Our enthusiastic staff guide students through a comprehensive and diverse theoretical and practical course that follows the requirements of the Board of Studies.
PDHPE is a compulsory subject in years 7-10 and students must satisfactorily complete three hundred hours of PDHPE to obtain a School Certificate.
The aim of the PDHPE in years 7-10 is to enable students to develop the knowledge, understanding, skills, values and attitudes required to lead and promote healthy, safe and active lives.
The PDHPE program is comprised of three content strands;
These Content Strands are embedded in the following Contexts for Learning;
The aim of PASS is to enhance the students’ capacity to participate effectively in physical activity and sport, leading to improved quality of life for themselves and others. Through a largely practical approach to learning, the opportunity to enhance the participation of themselves and others is provided, along with understanding of the contribution of sport and activity to Australian culture and wellbeing.
In addition, the skills of communication, decision making, interaction, moving, planning and problem solving are integrated into the course content.
The aim of Child Studies in Year 9 and 10 is to develop in students the knowledge, understanding and skills to positively influence the wellbeing and development of children in the critical early years (0–8 years) in a range of settings and contexts. The skills gained will provide a basis for parenting in the future or current contact with children. The course aims to enhance the understanding of the reality of childcare and child raising and to broaden the students’ awareness of community needs in this area.
The senior course has no formal prerequisites but builds on the skills learnt in the junior years.
The syllabus has two distinct parts with more information available on the Board of Studies website:

CAFS explores issues common to all young people. It encourages students to become involved members of society. The course complements the role of families and other social groups by helping young people to understand the contribution positive relationships contribute to wellbeing, make informed decisions and take responsible action in all aspects of their lives.
This Senior Category B subject allows students to learn about the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle and recognise the need to be responsible and informed health decision makers. The course enables students to further develop their understanding of and competence in a range of sport and recreational pursuits. They are encouraged to establish a lifelong commitment to being physically active and to achieve movement potential.
