This year, World Teachers’ Day falls on Friday 25 October in Australia.
In 2019 the World Teachers’ Day theme is, “Young Teachers: The future of the Profession.” This day provides the opportunity to celebrate teachers worldwide for the amazing job they do and the important contribution they make to our students Learning and Wellbeing.

SPORT REPORT TERM 4 - Week 2 VS MAGDALENE
As the weather starts to become warmer, a reminder to all students to be sensible when involved in sport throughout the term. Please ensure you are well hydrated, wearing your hat and sunscreen at all times. No hat = no play.
Thank you to all students involved in sport throughout Term 3. John Therry is now currently equal first for the MISA champion school, as we make our way into the final term of MISA for 2019.

Fantastic coaching by Emily Smidt (year 10) saw a few great tactical plays implemented. Continued training of catching and pitching will hopefully see more improvements, MVP: Sarafina Gomes |
10-11 Girls Volleyball |
Mrs Pellegrino |
Magdalene |
2-1 |
With the girls losing the first set they came back with strong plays and defence in the second set even the scores. The final set saw a lack of communication as Magdalene ran away with the win. MVP: Deborah Madriaga |
7-9 Girls Oztag |
Mr Tran |

8-2 |
The girls worked very well as a team, however improvements need to be made in defense, for example moving up in a line and marking players. The girls also need to work on passing. Overall a good effort. MVP: Ella Fisher |
7-9 Girls AFL |
|
Magdalene |
49-18 |
The girls were a little slow to start, which gave Magdalene a solid lead into the second half. After a good team talk the girls went out and held them to even scores for the second half. Room for improvement for the rest of the season, but a great effort in the heat. MVP: Annalise Hodson |
10-11 Mixed Frisbee |
Mr Wakeling |
JTCHS |
28-3 |
A good start to the season. Excellent teamwork on a hot day. A good start gave us a 5 point lead and we continued to build. Can work on defense for next week. MVP: Kylee Dries |
7-9 Boys indoor Cricket |
Mr Bodeker |
JTCHS |
121-38 |
A strong start to the season, fantastic batting from Luke Denniss and Aaron Stonebridge contributed to the the boys posting a very competitive score of 121. With our very first ball, Lochlan Davenport clean bowled their opening batsman. Our bowlers were clinical with Mason McPhee bamboozling batters with his leg spin and along with our faultless fielding we restricted them to 38, resulting in a 83 run victory. Well done boys. MVP - Mason McPhee |
10-11 Boys Volleyball |
Mr Williamson |
JTCHS |
2 sets - 1 |
A shakey start to the season and quite lucky to escape with a victory. Opposition were very inexperienced allowing us to easily win the first set. To much complacency and a touch of overheating made the next two games difficult. MVP: Fenika Oloapu |
7-9 Boys Oztag |
Mr McGrath |
JTCHS |
15-3 |
A fantastic start to the year with a very convincing win against Magdalene. We trialled a few of our new set plays, although it didn’t always turn out the way we wanted. We gave away too many penalties near the line but still came away with the win. MVP: Devontay Zaglas |
7-9 Boys AFL |
Mr Geribo |
JTCHS |
56-16 |
A very solid start saw us keep Magdalene scoreless in the first half. Our pressure at ground level definitely won us the game but we kicked 14 behinds so our accuracy in front of goal will need to improve against stronger opponents. A great start to the competition. MVP: Kynan Sparkes |

Pull up your socks this Socktober to help our students walk in the shoes of others!
On Tuesday the 29th of October, John Therry staff and students are invited to wear a fun pair of socks to school with a gold coin donation. These could include happy socks or sports socks. This fundraiser is to raise money for students going to ACYF Perth and on the Vanuatu Immersion. Our students are working hard to help support Catholic communities in need. Your support is greatly appreciated!
