PARENT / TEACHER / STUDENT INTERVIEWS TERM 2 2019
Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews for Years 7-10 to be held on:
Thursday 4thJuly
Afternoon Session: 3:30pm – 5:30pm
Staff dinner break 5.30pm – 6.00pm (no interviews during this time)
Evening Session 6.00pm – 7.30pm
Friday 5thJuly
Morning Session:9am – 11am
These interviews are held as a follow up to the Year 7-10 Half Yearly Reports.
The interviews are an ideal opportunity to allow you to receive information about your child’s progress this year and to receive advice on how they can improve further throughout the 2019 academic year.
The booking of interviews is an online process. We hope that this makes it easier for parents to make interviews with teachers as you can see immediately when teachers are free and make interviews at times that are convenient for you, rather than relying upon interviews to be booked at school. Students, if required, can also book in the interviews while at school using the internet resources at John Therry.
The process for booking interviews is as follows:
Login to Sentral using the Parent Portal.
https://sentral.jtchsdow.catholic.edu.au/portal/login
Click on the link to Parent Teacher Night. Beside each class will be a button to allocate a time for the interview.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the school.
We look forward to working with you in assisting your child to achieve their personal best in their learning.
Please support your child in their education by making attendance at this night a priority.
Students should attend these interviews in full Winter Uniform.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. Gavan Martyn
Co-ordinator of Teaching and School Operations
The Myall Creek massacre remains one of the darkest events in Australia's colonial history. The massacre at Myall Creek near the Gwydir River, in the central New South Wales district of Namoi, involved the brutal killing of at least twenty-eight unarmed Indigenous Australians including Aboriginal women, children and elderly men by eleven colonists on 10 June 1838.
Seven stockmen were hanged for the crimes, the first time there had been acknowledgement of frontier atrocities and pursuit through the courts. Now 180 years later, the memories of the massacre are laying the foundation for reconciliation.
Mikayla B in Year 7 represented John Therry at the Myall Creek Massacre Memorial event on the weekend of 9th June where she joined over 500 people including approximately 100 students from schools in Qld, ACT and the local north-west NSW area, in telling the truth about Australia's shared history and making paths to move forward in reconciliation.

10-12 Boys Softball Vs Mount Carmel (FINAL) |
Mr Bodeker |
Won 4-0 |
A fantastic season from all the boys enabled us to compete in the grand final against Mt Carmel as minor premiers. We got off to the perfect start, scoring 4 quick runs from efficient batting and smart stealing. An outstanding fielding performance enabled us restrict Mt Carmel to 0 runs throughout the 3 innings, an impressive shutout. This performance was a complete team effort from start to finish which culminated in John Therry winning MISA East. Well done boys! MVP - Malakai Dunn |
10-12 Girls Indoor Cricket Vs Saint Patricks (FINAL) |
Mr Geribo |
Lost 111-45 |
St Pats won the toss and sent us into bat, after two quick wickets we recovered well. The batters followed the game plan, finding the side net, consistently, however constant wickets kept out total to 45. St Pats came out of the gates firing, however some controlled bowling kept us in the game until St Pats final pair ran away with the win. MVP: Katherine Denniss |
Soccer Boys 11-12 Vs Mount Carmel |
Mr Williamson |
Lost 3-0 |
An excellent game despite the scoreline. The boys played with commitment and eagerness. Several players stepped up or returned from injury today. Unlucky not to have the whole squad for the whole season. MVP: Anthony Dellis and Lachlan McNeice |
10-12 Soccer Girls Vs St Patricks |
Mr Holmes |
Won 5-3 |
A full squad this week ensured a great game. The girls led the whole match. Goals scored by Jorja, Sophia (2) and Olivia (2). Great defending by Georgia, Tahlia, Celeste and Shontay. Great result and a great season. MVP: Celeste D’Mellow |
Netball Girls 11-12 Vs St Patricks |

Mixed Frisbee 7-9 Vs St Benedicts (FINAL) |
Mr Wakeling |
Won 25-4 |
A great game that was highlighted with patches of individual brilliance. A slow start due to a lack of focus. However a few great efforts and control was soon ours. A wonderful result! MVP: William Craig and Elise Farrant. |
7-9 Basketball Boys Vs Mount Carmel (FINAL) |
Mr Peters |
Won 36-34 |
One of the very best Grand Final MISA basketball performances ever. The team simply refused to lose, made phenomenal plays coming back from 10 points down to win against the odds in the final minute. With his brother injured waiting for an ambulance, Devontay Zaglas with ice running through his veins made both free throws giving us the lead in the final seconds. The boys dedicated the win to Travis. MVP: Devontay Zaglas |
7-9 Basketball Girls Vs Magdalene |
Miss Randall |
Won 30-23 |
The final game of the series and what a showdown it was. The JT girls had a fantastic start, leading by 12 points in the first 10 minutes. However, the girls became complacent and were only up by 3 points going into the second half. With a new determination and team spirit the girls worked extremely hard to win 30-23. It has been a fantastic season of coaching the 7-9 girls team, many of whom showed a willingness to learn new skills, be part of a team and try their best each and every game. Congratulations girls on a great season - 3rd place overall. MVP - Laysharna Tusiupu |
7-9 Hockey Boys Vs Mount Carmel |
Mrs Bulger |
Lost 6-0 |
Mount Carmel was the better team today, their fast attacking plays kept our defenders very busy and they didn’t miss a shot at goal. I was impressed to see the improvements the John Therry team had made in defense and midfield. Great sportsmanship shown by all. MVP: Darcy Wilson and Keigan Jakobsson |
Opens Rugby League Vs Freeman (Round 7) |
Mr Tran + Mr McGrath |
Won 26-12 |
In a do or die match to stay in the running for first past the post, the boys started off slow. With only two tries in the first half. Senior player Corey Brabender took charge and led the team to a convincing victory. MVP: Faaoli Wulf and Corey Brabender |
FINALS round- Five teams were in contention of taking out top spot and earning a place in the ‘Interzone Finals’. Congratulations to all teams on making the finals, an excellent effort.
