IMPROVING OUR STUDY SKILLS…
We are all aware that a major contributor to student success in the HSC is skills development and content knowledge and understanding in the courses chosen for study. We are also aware that knowing how to study well- having a successful timetable of study, having a growth mindset, setting goals and finding the right balance are some of the big contributors to this success.
To enable our students to do their best, John Therry has a rigorous teaching and learning program led by efficient and diligent educators. In addition, we have employed the services of Elevate Education, an organisation that supports 1050 schools across Australia with effective study skills workshops to facilitate more effective learning, improve learning outcomes and increase overall student performance.
Elevate education team members have been working with staff, students and parents since last year and, this week, they were back at John Therry to deliver 2 workshops to our Year 12, 2020 students- Student Elevation and Memory Mnemonics.
In addition, an Elevate Education team member also presented to the parents of our Year 12 students at the Year 12 2020 Information evening.

SPORT REPORT TERM 4 - Round 5 Week 6 VS MCCC
After some sweltering weather on Tuesday the 19th, Sport was again cancelled for a number of teams and recreation sports. We were fortunate to be able to play our Indoor Cricket games as well as our Volleyball game indoors at MCCC. The forecast for next week is again looking hot. Hoping a cool change does come through so students are able to engage in sporting competitions.

80 to 14 |
An all round performance today resulted in a comfortable win against MCCC. Smart batting and swift running between wickets resulted in JT posting a respectable total of 80. With the king of spin Mason McPhee taking 5 wickets in his two overs and Maxwell Whelan doing his best Glenn McGrath impression, victory was assured. Well done boys, MVP. A draw that felt like a loss, played well in the first set with good spiking from Fenika. Unfortunately poor decision making led to a narrow loss in the last set, resulting in a 2-2 draw. MVP: Moses Bartley |
