10-12 Boys Softball Vs St Benedicts |
Mr Bodeker |
Won 5-2 |
A must win game for the boys and despite a shaky start they were able to come away with a close, but deserving victory. A solid first innings put John Therry in a commanding 5-2 run lead, this was due to smart and aggressive batting. A special mention must go to Wesley Titus who took a spectacular and crucial juggling catch in the outfield. Great fielding from our entire infield in the second innings put us in a commanding position which enabled Damian Thomas to strike the last few batters out for the win. Well done boys. MVP - Damian Thomas. |
10-12 Girls Indoor Cricket Vs Magdalene |
Mr Geribo |
Won 99-79 |
Electing to bat first the team started strong. The first batting pair putting on 38 runs in the first 4 overs. The team continued this momentum throughout the entire innings amassing a total of 99 runs. Our bowlers kept the run rate low early and kept the opposition to only 99. MVP: Jessica Whelan |
Soccer Boys 11-12 Vs St Benedicts |
Mr Williamson |
Lost 3-1 |
Odds against us from the start with only 8 players. Teamwork and effort saw us stay in contention right up to the final whistle and unlucky not to get at least a second goal. Well played all. MVP: Brenton McGee. |
10-12 Soccer Girls Vs St Patricks |
Mr Holmes |
Won 4-2 |
After going down 2-0 early, the girls dug deep and fired four in return with goals from Jorja and a hatrick from Sophia. Great tackles from Tahlia and Celeste ensured a solid defence. Great spirit from our JT girls. MVP: Jorja Anthony. |
Netball Girls 11-12 Vs St Patricks |
Mrs Pellegrino |
Lost 28 - 12 |
Our last game for the season and it was our best game. The girls gave St Pats a run for their money, keeping the pressure on them throughout the entire game. The first quarter was a tight 6-4 with St Pats in the lead, JT girls putting up a fight. Unfortunately it was not enough to defeat the undefeated St Pats team. A shout out to all the girls for a great season and for showing up each week with a positive attitude. MVP: Madison Larner |
Mixed Frisbee 7-9 Vs St Patricks |
Mr Wakeling |
Won 48-8 |
A good competitive game that allowed everyone to showcase their skills. Some good defense that created a number of scoring opportunities and some sharp chances taken. Great effort! MVP: Sio Inosesio |
7-9 Basketball Boys Vs Mount Carmel |
Mr Peters |
Won 58-37 |
Outstanding second half blitz turned a one point halftime lead to a 21 point win. Tayvion sparked the second half with outstanding defence, Liam was on fire scoring 22 points in a half. Well done boys. MVP: Liam Crain and Tayvion Zaglas |
7-9 Basketball Girls Vs St Patricks |
Miss Randall |
Lost 22-21 |
An absolutely fantastic game of team work, determination and athletic rigour. The JT girls had alot to prove, going down to St Patrick’s College the previous week by 20 points. The girls played extremely well, but unfortunately a few too many silly mistakes and tough calls saw St Pats take the win by 1 point. The girls should be extremely proud of themselves. MVP: Shanae-Lee Leech Morrison |
7-9 Hockey Boys Vs |
Mr Webb |
- |
BYE |
Opens Rugby League Vs Thomas Hassel |
Mr Tran + Mr McGrath |
Won 50-0 |
In a high scoring affair the boys showed great sportsmanship. With only playing 10 aside the team adjusted well to the change and dominated the football game. MVP: Riley Tonna |
John Therry had a mixed round at MISA today with some teams playing round five matches, some teams playing round 6 matches and other teams competing for a place in the Grand Final.
Results were very positive and all teams should be proud of their efforts. The Boys basketball team, Open Boys League and Mixed Frisbee all remained undefeated. Whilst a number of teams may be in contention for grand final placing pending the results of other games. Best wishes to all teams in the lead up to the ‘Term 2 Interzone Finals’.
This week our school is in mourning as we pray for Travis Southby and the Southby family. Travis and his sister Olivia have been ever present in our MISA and Diocese teams, both are remarkable athletes and ambassadors of the John Therry community. Travis was a keen AFL player, he was our Cross Country champion in 2018, whilst in 2019 he placed third. At our swimming carnival in 2019 Travis was runner up in Age Champion category for under 14 boys, which shows his versatility at sport.
Our sporting family will keep Travis and his family in our prayers at this difficult time.
CCC Cross Country
Good luck to Bridget Shearer (Year 7), Paul Salmond (Year 7) and Olivia Southby (Year 11), who will compete at the CCC Cross Country on Friday the 15th at Eastern Creek. A fantastic achievement to represents the Diocese. John Therry wishes you all the best on making the NSW All Schools cross country team.
