SYDNEY ACADEMY OF CHESS INTERSCHOOL GALA DAY
On Thursday 1st December John Therry students attended the Sydney Academy of Chess Interschool Gala Day, hosted by Cecil Hills High School.
The team consisted of Ibrahim Al Taey, Jackson Schulstad, Jaydan Diamond and Marcus Bolton, who all competed in seven games of chess against various schools in the Sydney Metropolitan area. Each game, played in the Swiss format, pitted the team against players of increasing capability.
The gentlemen earned some fantastic results amidst incredible competition, with each earning a placing in the top four positions:
- Equal fourth - Ibrahim Al Taey and Jaydan Diamond
- Third place - Jackson Schulstad
- Second place - Marcus Bolton
These achievements allowed the team to place second overall for the day, a pleasing outcome and great conclusion to an engaging day of chess.
The team served as responsible and respectful ambassadors for their College.
