A high scoring game with many errors in defence saw the game swing in momentum between both teams. We went into half time with a 6-1 lead and managed to leak 6 points in the second half. We started the first half with many options in attack which kept Benedict’s guessing but we went away from that after the break. We have a skilful team with lots of talent but we need to find some consistency within our game across the park. We will have another training session to work on our plays and get used to each others strengths.  Thanks to Noah McKenzie for refereeing both games.

Our Round 3 fixture vs St Pat's was set to be a good showdown between the two talented teams. Unfortunately with only 1 sub, the girls were under the pump from the get go.

The girls conceded 2 quick tries which set the tone for the remainder of the game.

The girls struggled to support our attacking runs which hindered our sets.

We also left gaping holes in our staggered defensive line which allowed St Pat's to cross numerous times.

Annaliese Hall was a consistent standout on both ends of the park and is a worthy recipient of the Sports MVP.

The boys were keen to get back on the pitch after a washed out round last week. Magdalene started on the front foot, getting the first clearance which lead to the first point of the match. From there, our boys gained control of the match, with Cohan winning plenty of ball in midfield and, along with Kriz and Chayse, linked well with our forward. Our winning margin looks great, and that’s largely contributed to our defensive pressure, which we’ll aim to continue to improve on throughout the competition.

A windy and tough game today against Magdalene. It was great to see the girls giving every position a go and supporting each other as they learn the ropes of the game. Our JT girls put in a strong effort and tried to make a comeback in the second half, but unfortunately were unable to take the win. Hopefully with some more upcoming training our girls can continue to improve their game and get some more wins under their belt.

Ayla scored almost all our points, she was constantly moving in the end zone and caught everything.

Angus was a wall in defense, didn't allow any points scored against JT whilst he was on.

This afternoon the Volleyball girls travelled over to Broughton Anglican College to play their third round of MISA. The girls had a tough match ahead of them with only one reserve, however they still managed to come over the top of Broughton with convincing wins in the first two sets of the game. MVP this week goes to Fanaafi Estrada who played an outstanding outside hitter role in both sets.

Match 1:

JT came up against WAC, won the toss and batted first. Despite the match being reduced to four ball overs, we scored a competitive total and then backed this up with our fielding efforts. A comfortable win and we were dominant throughout.

This was a catch up game against MAS. Our first batting partnership failed to score early, however, we managed to score a great total of 60 runs. In the field, we were dynamic taking most of our chances. The game came down to the last ball, but MAS were just better on the day.

The girls played an excellent game today holding Oran Park Anglican college to 2 runs in 2 innings. The girls only had the chance to bat once due to time constraints but they smashed it bringing 5 girls, Lily Atkins, Indy Penney, Alice Stephenson, Akira Smith and Georgina Akol, home to round out their innings. 

Some quick passing and catching between Lily Atkins, pitcher, Indy Penney, on first, and Alice Stephenson, catcher, made quick work of the ORAC batters ending their innings.

A disappointing game, with no consistency from JT. Unfortunately we leaked too many points early and played some predictable plays in attack which were easy to read for Magdalene. We need to work on our depth and the ability to play what’s in front of us, rather than one out hit ups. We need to prioritise our defence and limit the points conceded which will give us a fair crack at the competition.

Tough loss today against Magdalene despite a strong effort in short portions of the game. A very slow start put the girls on the back foot against a very skilled and well drilled Magdalene team. A mixture of basic structural mistakes further put the ladies behind. A stronger defensive effort in the 2nd half led to only 3 tries being scored and a few scoring chances missed.

The boys had the bye this week so they remained at school to brush up on some team tactics and skills for the upcoming semi finals on the 15th November.

A good game today from the girls. It was great to see a lot more movement on the ball and an improvement in both their marking and handball skills. Some star efforts from Achel, Alexis, Sienna, Ariana, Bella and Abbi with consistent attack of the ball, defensive skills and marking to assist the game. After a strong lead in the first half, unfortunately St Pats came home strong with the win.

Tightly contested first half, JT were the better team but were sloppy in defence.

Second half started off poorly, conceding 3 points in two minutes to fall behind.

A couple of key substitutions and helped spark a ten point scoring spree in as many minutes.

Oran Park's morale was broken and JT locked down the game in the closing minutes.

Grace O'Reilly scored 14 out of the 18 points, she was constantly making herself open in the end zone and showed a good pair of hands.

Notable mentions Luke Dennis showing hussle in midfield. Angus O'Dwyer formidable in defence.

The boys volleyball team made hard work of it but eventually prevailed in exciting fashion. We were let down by poor execution, and trying to to perform the amazing when a simple option would have been a better choice. We will need to be more consistent and show better shot selection in the upcoming last round and into the finals.

A dramatic, intense game from beginning to end. The JT girls took the first set in a narrow win 25-23. They then lost focus in the second. Control, ball skills and communication improved in the third for a very close victory.

JT came up against Magdalene who won the toss and sent us into bat. The opposition bowled and fielded exceptionally well, and we were on the back foot for the majority of the game. JT fought until the end, but ultimately Magdalene were the better team on the day.

The girls put in a massive effort in today’s game. Our girls managed to keep WCCC to one run in their first innings. Thanks to the pitching work of Sophie Regan and the fielding work of Darcie Bennett, at short stop, and Lily Atkins on first base. Our first innings the girls put away 3 runs missing out on a 4th home run with an unlucky 3rd out. Unfortunately for our girls, WCCC came back with a vengeance in their second innings getting 6 home. We returned another 3 home in our second innings and once again missing out on a 4th home run due to a 3rd out. Really proud of the girls efforts today.
