FUTURE DIRECTIONS NETWORK SCHOLARSHIP 2022
The mission of Future Direction Network is to inform, educate and inspire youth from South West Sydney about the importance of attending university. This is accomplished through mentoring programs, career pathway planning and financial assistance (scholarships) mechanisms.
Each recipient of the scholarship receives $6,000 per year for three years (a total of $18000) alongside ongoing mentoring and support from the FDN team.
The John Therry community is so proud of Sophie Melville and Anthony Ceroni (HSC 2021), recipients of the 2022 scholarship.
Sophie Melville receives the Lady Fairfax Charitable Trust Scholarship. Sophie attended John Therry College in 2022 and is now studying a Bachelor of Arts (Humanities) and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) at the Australian Catholic University. Sophie holds ambitions to become a high school teacher and inspire the next generation of students to take pride in their studies and reach their academic potential. Sophie also holds ambitions to pursue a career in public office and help develop better educational outcomes for teenagers, especially those in low-socioeconomic areas.
Anthony Ceroni receives the Annie Corlett (AM) and Bruce Corlett (AM) Scholarship.
Anthony also attended John Therry College in 2022 and is now studying a Bachelor of Design in Architecture at the University of Sydney. Anthony is interested in working overseas for a not-for-profit organisation post his studies to immerse himself in different cultures and situations. He also plans to launch his own architecture firm, post his studies and return to university to study engineering.
