JT LANGUAGES CLUB
The Languages Club is continuing to grow strongly at our school. This week Club president Riley McIntyre (Yr 9) welcomed our guest speaker.
Yumeng Li (Year 11) came to the club to give a talk about school life in China. She told us about some of the differences between school life in Australia and in China.
Our club members were able to practice their Mandarin with Yumeng and listen to her talk both in English and Mandarin. She also showed us the textbook kids in China use to learn English as a foreign language! We were impressed by how much vocabulary they learn in their English classes!
We discovered that student members of the Languages Club have cultural and language backgrounds in many Asian languages. As well as students in the club learning Mandarin, Japanese and Korean, we have background speakers and or cultural ties including Japanese, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Indonesian, Gujarati, Malayalam and Hindi.
New students are welcome to join the JT Languages Club. Meetings are every Monday at 1pm in R block.
