JTCC SPORT UPDATE - Week 10
The heavens have opened up again this week, despite this Tuesday sport still went ahead with a variety of wet weather options. We also had a new provider for 9/10 REC sport, running VR technology games and sports which was a big hit with staff and students alike - even Mr. Marshall had a go! All our outdoor MISA games were cancelled, which was a disappointing way to end the term for many of our teams who only managed a couple of games this term. Despite the weather, our indoor sports were able to go ahead and we had 3 teams this week playing in Grand Finals and our Indoor Cricket team playing off for 5th position. Our boys basketball team was the only team that managed to claim victory, with a come from behind win in the final seconds of the game. Mr. Peters was absolutely thrilled with the efforts of the team to never give up.
With the wet weather the JTCC Cross Country carnival event has been postponed to week 1, term 2 - Wednesday 27th April.
A few general reminders:
- Students who missed out on MISA or , there are many future opportunities to represent JTCC, keep an eye out on the Sport Bulletin Board in the A-block corridor and on the Compass Newsfeed.
- A reminder that consent for all sporting events must be given via the Parent Portal on Compass. Please ring the school if you have issues logging in or accessing Events.
- A number of Diocesan events have been postponed or modified - please see the updates below.

10-12 BOYS BASKETBALL |
vs. MCCC 48 - 45 WIN |
Grand final vs. MCCC - MISA CHAMPIONS ‘The Miracle of Minto’. The boys were down the entire game, at times by double digits. With 40 seconds to go they were still down by 7 points. Against the odds the boys hit three 3 points in the final seconds to snatch a MIRACLE win! Believe it to achieve it. MVP: Eli Matic (Captain - 15 points). |

7-9 BOYS VOLLEYBALL |
vs. MCCC 1 - 2 LOSS |
Grand final vs. MCCC The boys went into the grand final in a 1 vs 2 against Mount Carmel. After an enthusiastic start from the MCCC they went ahead early. The boys from John Therry fought back but went down 14-25. The boys rallied in the second set and put the pressure on the favourites. JT managed to hit multiple clutch shots to clinch the second set with ease 25-13. Pressure mounted on both teams going down to the wire but unfortunately we lost by the smallest of margins 23-25. A tremendous effort by our team and a performance they can all be proud of. Well done. MVP: William Chanhara & Marcus Feehan |

7-9 GIRLS VOLLEYBALL |
vs. St. Pats 0-2 LOSS |
Grand final vs. St. Pats The John Therry Volleyball girls were eager to play St. Pats in the final. We started the match very well, going point for point with St. Pats in the early stages. We were very competitive in the first game and served really well, however, St. Pats were good enough to be able to save half a dozen points which limited our scoring opportunities. In the second game, St. Pats were very dominant and JT struggled to get back into the game. MVP: Jorja Borg |
