10-12 BOYS BASKETBALL |
vs. Thomas Hassall AC 73 - 41 WIN |
Absolutely on fire today. Undeniably laser focused producing the best game of the year against quality opposition. Everyone shot extremely well, combined with gritty desfences made it a pleasure to watch. MVP: Garang Bol |

7-9 BOYS VOLLEYBALL |
vs. MAC 2 - 0 WIN |
A good performance in our first home game to win against some tough opposition. Both games were very tight, but a superior ability to avoid mistakes and powerful serving led the way to victory. Well done to all players as we look ahead with excitement for next weeks finals. MVP Kruz Takiari |

7-9 GIRLS VOLLEYBALL |
vs. MAC 2-1 WIN |
The girls displayed excellent volleyball skills during today's difficult and close match against Macarthur Adventist College. They knew this would be a difficult match and their lack of confidence showed a little in the first set. The team improved their communication skills and serves in the second and third sets to come away with a win they were ecstatic about. Awesome effort by all. MVP Serafina Logai-Lusiano |

10-12 GIRLS OZ TAG |
vs. St. PATS 3-2 WIN |
After a long break between games it was good to be back on the field. The girls were ready for a tough challenge against competition favourites St Patrick's College Campbelltown. The girls started well with some great combinations putting JT ahead with one try to the good. The game moved to a more defensive affair between the two teams with both schools numbering up and not letting anyone through their lines. Eventually St Pats managed to break through the line twice and take a 2-1 lead. Some strong leadership from Elise and Grace kept the girls in the game and we managed to get a try to tie up the game. With the game looking like it was going to end in a draw the girls snuck over in the final seconds to snatch the win. A fantastic result for JT!
MVP: Grace O'Reily & Elise Farrant |

10-12 BOYS OZ TAG |
vs. Thomas Hassall AC 8 - 4 WIN |
It was good to get back on the paddock this week after a long term 1 in the classroom. A lot of things went against us in the game but the boys worked hard to come away with the win. We definitely have some things to improve on as we move closer to the end of the competition. MVP : Sonny Edwards |

7-9 GIRLS HOCKEY |
vs. WCCS 0 - 0 DRAW |
This was our best game yet. The team had great defense and won a lot of possession. Playing with two less players the team were faced with a huge defensive game and they defended extremely well, not conceding any goals, congratulations to the whole Team on the defense and we’ll done to Joanna who filled in as goalie and was exceptional. Kiara made a couple of great breaks down the field and had the support of the whole team to try and score, unfortunately our few attempts were unsuccessful but we are happy with a draw. MVP: Saphira Maggs and Joanna McVittie |

7-9 GIRLS IND CRICKET |
vs. MAG 30 - 74 LOSS |
Our final game was against Magdalene and it was a difficult game. Despite this the team persevered to the very end, despite a hefty score against us. Ella did a great catch, forcing the opposition to lose 5 runs. Maddi and Lily scored a large total of 25 runs, with everyone contributing and giving their best. Overall our last game was the most fun, despite ending in a loss. MVP: Maddison Burke |

Diocesan Swimming Carnival
On Friday the 18th of March John Therry sent their best swimmers down to Corrimal pools for the Diocesan Swimming Carnival. Going into the day with optimism and high spirits our small team tried their best showcasing some of our elite athletes at John Therry. Some new strong swimmers joined the JT swimming team but unfortunately were out paced by some strong swimmers from other schools. Good performances by both Riley Galea and Indyanna Cotton saw them finish mid-pack in some of their respective races. Our two strongest competitors Shontelle Cage and Tayah Maharaj swam like sharks and Tayah managed several podium finishes. Some of our athletes narrowly missed out on going to CCC with some being only seconds behind the winners. A huge congratulations goes to Tayah Maharaj who fortunately made the CCC swimming carnival coming second in the 50m freestyle and placed 3rd overall in her age division. A special shout out to Shontelle Cage who was competing in her last Dio swimming carnival after years of continued success in the pools for JT. A tremendous effort by the team and especially Tayah whom we wish all the best of luck at the NSW CCC Swimming Carnival.
Rugby League - Boys
John Therry students are often recognised for their sporting ability across the Diocese, particularly in Rugby League. It is so hard to pick a team to trial for Diocesean events as we are spoiled for choice with our talent. On Wednesday the 23rd of April we took 17 of our u15’s and Opens students to trial for the upcoming Southern Country Trials in Wagga. As usual, John Therry students represented the school exceptionally well, showing great sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the day and a genuine love for the game.
Our u15’s students were up to the challenge, trialing against 50 other students for a position in the team. Filipe Penuve, Cooper Tonna, Braiden Wilkinson, Chayse Davies, Jordan Truckle, Cole Worden, Jerome Gargoles, Fin Mckevoy-King, Chaise Attard & Riley Ayres must be commended for their efforts on the day. Each student tried their best in what was a challenging day for all. We were fortunate enough to have 3 students from the u15’s selected for the Southern Country Trials - Cooper Tonna, Jerome Gargoles & Chaise Attard. Congratulations to all of our u15’s players on the way in which they handled themselves on and off the field.
Our Opens students should also be applauded for their efforts - it was brilliant to watch these players excel on the day, showing off their amazing talent . Our students have so much potential in this game of Rugby League and that was evident from the kick off. We only sent 7 students to the trials (Marshall Sheehan, Zac Morheb, Noah McKenzie, Brendan Thomas, Dechlan Gunning, Riley Oitmann & Ben Mostyn), with 4 students making it to the next level. Congratulations to Zac, Noah, Dechlan & Riley on their selection to the Southern Country trials.
I look forward to seeing what the future holds for these students on the sporting field!
Mr. McGrath
