10-12 Girls Indoor Cricket

Mr Geribo

Loss

51-19

With a few players out due to injury the spirits of the team were lifted by the arrival of Olivia Southby, who didn’t want to let the team down. We faced St. Pats in a battle for first spot. We started well, taking two wickets in the first over, and restricted them to just 13 after two more. Unfortunately we lost too many wickets in our innings and never looked likely to chase down the total. A big thank you to Emily and Celeste for filling in today.

Played very well overall, getting better each week. Everyone scored and played unselfishly. Stand outs today were Liam Crain and Kisione Tupola.

A tough game from the starting whistle. Though there were moments of great plays, the girls need to continue working on their passes and offensive plays.

This week our school is in mourning as we pray for Travis Southby and the Southby family. Travis and his sister Olivia have been ever present in our MISA and Diocese teams, both are remarkable athletes and ambassadors of the John Therry community. Our sporting family will keep Travis and his family in our prayers at this difficult time.

MISA. Open Golf Championship 2019

The 5th MISA Open Golf Championship will be held on Wednesday 11th September, 2019 at Camden Lakeside Golf Club. On behalf of Macarthur Independent Schools Association.

This year, there will again be two competitions.

The MISA Cup Event, for those students who have a Golf Link handicap. This event will be played off Scratch and Net scores, with winners in age groups and gender.

Players will follow normal golf rules with a 30cm-preferred lie on the fairways only. Schools can nominate up to 3 students for each division, Juniors Boys (7-9) and Seniors Boys (10-12) and Open Girls (7-12). Student nominations will determine the overall structure of the competition.

The MISA Plate Event, for those students who do not have a handicap. This event will be played off scratch score only, with winners in age groups and gender.

Players will follow normal golf rules with a 30cm-preferred lie on the fairways only. Players who take more than 7 shots for a hole will write a score of +7 on their scorecard, pick up their ball and move to the next hole with their group.

Schools can nominate up to four (4) seniors (10-12) and four (4) juniors (7-9) of mixed gender. A maximum of eight students from each school. Student nominations will determine the overall structure of the competition.

  • All student players are required to have their own golf clubs, are aware of some basic rules and etiquette and have had some golfing experience.
  • Students, where possible, will play in groups of four.
  • Students will be responsible for their own scoring and that of one other player in their group.
  • In the event of tied scores, a count back system will be used to determine the winner.
  • It is expected that all players follow normal golfing etiquette. School sports uniform to be worn if golf attire is unavailable.
  • Poor behaviour on the course will result in the student being disqualified from the event and will be asked to ‘retire’ from their round.

Students need to arrive by 8am sign up for an 8:30 start. The day is expected to finish around 2:00pm

There will be 2 staff in attendance throughout the day to monitor the event. A detailed event outline will be sent out to schools confirming their entry.
