Dear Parents/Friends,
What a tremendously exciting year for our John Therry MISA Debaters! Congratulations to our Year 9 MISA Debaters on achieving third place in the South Regional Zone. Commendation to our Year 8 MISA Debaters who achieved second place in the South Regional Zone.
Both Year 7 Teams achieved first place in the South Regional Zone. The top team from the South Region (us) debated the top team from the North Region (St Pats). The Year 7 GRAND FINAL TOOK PLACE ON TUESDAY 30/11 - AND WE WERE VICTORIOUS!!!! The topic was "That we should all be vegetarians" and we were the negative team.
High commendation to the following students on their outstanding debating skills:

Second Speaker - Abigail Turner
Third Speaker - Hemakshi Kesani
Fourth Speaker: Elijah Gill
With only an hour to prepare and no access to technology our Year 7 debaters showcased their intelligence not only in the strength of their arguments but the outstanding way in which they delivered each debate. The adjudicator (from the University of Wollongong) made particular mention of the 'excellent manner' that was demonstrated by our Year 7's.
