NEWSLETTER SPORT UPDATE - Term 2, week 4

MISA Round 3 - vs. MAC

Rugby League vs.ASCC, Softball vs. MCC

Just as the buses were pulling up to take our students to their games, dark clouds and thunder were rolling in. Despite some light showers, some of our teams were finally able to play their first game of the term!  Some of our poor teams were ready to finally get out and play, but unfortunately got stung with a BYE round and are yet to play a game!. JTCC performed really well this week, with 6 wins and 1 loss. Some teams produced outstanding victories, with many coaches excited for the rest of the competition this term.

10-12 BOYS LEAGUE D1

Mr. McGrath

18-12

JTCC Win

An interesting start to the season, playing with limited players in the rain. We put ourselves under pressure in the first half, only completing one set of attack which resulted in All saints leading 12-0 at the break. Once the boys held onto the ball and stopped giving away penalties in the second half, we played hard footy that was hard to manage for the opposition. Malcolm and Alex led the forwards all game with Garry pulling off some big hits in defence. A shaky, but pleasing win.

MVP: Alex Rondo

10-12 GIRLS IND Cricket

10-12 BOYS SOFTBALL

Mr. Chapman

5 - 2

JTCC

Win

The JT boys had a great start to the MISA season beating MCC 5-2. JT batted first and produced 4 runs through some big hitting BY Damian Thomas. Tom Augustine then pitched very well and combined with Shaun Sutton on 1st base got the majority of Magdalene batters out.

 MVP: Damian Thomas

11-12 GIRLS NETBALL

Mrs. Pellegrino

26-11

JTCC Win

Our first game of the season resulting in a win. The rain held off up until the last 7 minutes of the final quarter.

With only 6 players, the team was down a wing defence. By the end of the first quarter JT was up 11-2 with MAC only scoring 1 point in the second quarter and by the time the game had to be completed due to heavy rain, JT was up 26-11.

Game play and team spirit was phenomenal. A particular shout out to Sarah White for her exceptional passes, especially into the goal circle as well as Nikita Maika-Teal for her goal shooting.

If this game was anything to go by with one player down, the JT girls will be a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming games.

 MVP: Sarah White

11-12 BOYS SOCCER

Mr. Williamson

11 - 0

JTCC Win

A good win in a game that provided very little challenge. 8 different goal scorers. Well done Hanney, Sumner, Steele (2), Sepulveda, Treiblmayr, Sparkes, Nkala and Gomes.

MVP: Josh Pappas

10-12 GIRLS SOCCER

Mr. Holmes

BYE

7-9 BOYS BASKETBALL

Mr.Peters

71 - 24

JTCC Win

Dominant display by all the boys. Stepped up their rebounding and intensity with players all getting familiar with their roles. Garang, Keon, Kruze and Cliff all in particular caused havoc for the opposition again. Everyone scored.

MVP: Garang Bol (17 points, 16 rebounds)

7-9 GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mr. Jefferys

6 - 24

MAC Win

Written by Navara - A little disappointing for me and the girls but this will only make us want to work harder. There was some really good defence coming from Georgina and Georgia. Some things we should practice are definitely our shooting and our passing. Our spacing and rebounding is something we need to work on as well as passing, Overall we did alright, it definitely wasn’t the best any of the girls played but hopefully we improve.

MVP: Georgina Akol

7-9 BOYS HOCKEY

Mr. Webb

2 - 0

JTCC Win

After rain affected rounds the MISA hockey competition got off to a good start for John Therry. A very inexperienced John Therry team got off to a flying start with a Riley Oitmann goal in the first few minutes. Some great build up play from Harrison Clinch and Darcy Wilson lead to another goal which won the boys the game 2-0. Well done to the team

MVP: Darcy Wilson

7-9 MIXED FRISBEE

Mrs. Stanley
