VET

At John Therry Catholic College we offer a number of Vocational Education and Training courses (VET) that allow the students to receive a nationally accredited certificate whilst still completing their HSC. Each year, students completing a VET course must complete 35 to 70 hours of work placement within their industry. Macarthur Workplace Learning Program (MWLP) organises these work placements for over 6500 students.
Students were nominated by their host employers for outstanding performances during their work placement. Over the two regions there are 500 host employers who take 6500 students. These host employers were asked to nominate students who they believe are worthy of the award and put in an exceptional effort over the course of their work placement. The host employers only nominated 46 students and after an interview process there were only 24 finalists.
Our very own Luke Kotsou was a finalist for the Construction work placement student of the year award. Unfortunately Luke did not take home the main award however it was an amazing achievement to be nominated and be a finalist amongst the Greater Macarthur and Greater Canterbury Regions.
We congratulate Luke Kotsou on the consistent effort he put in during his work placement and wish him all the best in his future career as an Electrician.
