MCCC

Win

A gut wrenching loss. We played brilliantly initially against a much bigger opposition. Despite hitting nine three pointers, the boys lost in the last minute of the game. Not meant to be this year, thank you all.

St Pats

Win

I have always said that it doesn’t matter if you win or lose but how you play the game. If you read any of my previous reports and they say anything else then they have obviously been edited by Mr Bodeker (except for the stuff that sounded good...that was all me). If you read the reports you will know that I am a humble man, in fact I am the best at being humble. I say all this to say that despite our loss today, to a St Pats team that seemed to have gained several ex WNBA players since our last game, I could not be prouder of the efforts of the girls. Once again we were short handed. We only had six players. We didn’t even have our team manager Hannah Craig there - so it’s probably her fault we lost. Despite this adversity we put in a fantastic effort. We rushed back on defence. We shot when we were open. Shontay randomly shoulder barged people. It was a great game. While it would’ve been nice to bring home the trophy it was not to be. At the end of the game I told the girls how proud I was. And even though they stared at me in silence I could tell they wanted to say “Thank you sir. You are the wind beneath our collective wings.” I’m not sure why they didn’t say it or why they called me lame when I read this report to them. But I could tell they wanted to say that and in the end that is all that matters. Thanks for a great season girls. We will get them next year.

MVP  - Sarah White

Grand Final

JTCC

Win

Excellent match, worthy of a Final. 3 very close games with the JT underdogs coming through with a 27-25 win in the third. Congratulations to the team, firstly on their selection in the team ahead of over 50 trialists; secondly for their willingness to learn and thirdly for the quality of their decision making, belief and execution. Well done on a great win and a three-peat in winning this trophy for John Therry CC.

JTCC Win

We won the toss and sent SBCC in to bat and managed to restrict St Benedict’s to 77. We put together our best batting performance today with all pairs contributing significantly to our overall score. While treating their opposition with respect, our girls showed their dominance in all facets and came away with a convincing win.

Diocesan Results

On a very rainy and bleak Wednesday, 17th March 2021, a bus load of eleven boys ventured down to Gibson Park (Thirroul) to try their hand at the Dio Rugby League Trials. The rain ceased and provided the stage for what eventuated as being two very competitive trials.

The 15’s took the field first with a total of forty boys vying for positions. The teams essentially had boys from the Macarthur Region up against the Illawarra contingent. The footy was fast, tough and of a high standard. Four of our John Therry boys were successfully named in the Wollongong Diocesan Representative team.  Congratulations to Zac Dittavong, Noah McKenzie, Levi McGuinness and Riley Oitmanon on their selection to this side.

The Open Boys’ Trial was also shaping up to be highly contested. Unfortunately, after just 26 minutes of play the trial had to be abandoned due to a serious injury being sustained by one of the players. Based on what was witnessed during warm-up preparations and initial play along with the player representative profiles submitted prior to the event, the team was selected. Congratulations goes to Filemu Logai-Lusiano, Emmanuel Fatialofa and Braydon Wickey on their selections.

John Therry Catholic College was fortunate to have seven boys selected across the two representative teams who will travel to Wagga in Term Two to compete at the next level.

It was a pleasure to accompany this group of young men on this day. Their conduct both on and off the field was commendable and they were the living example of JT Pride!

Bill Turner Cup - Round 1

JTCC versus Cabramatta High School: Despite torrential rain, flooding and some ground closures Bill Turner Cup players and coaches were determined to play on Tuesday 22nd March. The game was held at Lynwood Park and JTCC played exceptionally well, winning convincingly 9 - 0.

Good luck to Mr. Webb and the boys for their next round in Term 2!
