In the gospel of Matthew we are told of the wise man who built his house on the rock. I was reminded of this story as I watched a performance built on the rock of defence. Some teams are all about the flash, they are all about scoring and individual glory...they build their houses on sand. Not this team. We faced another tough competition but we befuddled them with our commitment to the fundamentals, our willingness to sacrifice for the team and our ability to mix things up. During the course of the game we moved from a box and 1, man defence, 3-2 zone and 2-3 zone. Not sure what these mean? Me either. But I felt important yelling them out and the girls did stuff that lead to winning. We remain undefeated. Is this more important than playing with the right spirit? Is it more important than supporting each other? The answer is yes. We are undefeated and all should quake and tremble before us. MVP: Nikita Maika - Teal |

A slow first set with the JT girls lacking confidence and team spirit against the very experienced Mt Carmel team. After a team pep talk, the girls were dominating the second set with a 7 point lead. After losing the serving advantage, Mt Carmel came in front taking the win of the second set. The JT girls are to be commended on their improvements in the second set, unfortunately it just was not enough to win. MVP: Destiny Carr |

This week our girls came away with a great win against MCCC. The score was 10-1 with Shanae receiving MVP for scoring 2 of her own tries and setting up several others. Overall it was a great game by all our girls. MVP : Shanae-Lee Leech-Morrison |

A tough game today against an experienced Mount Carmel team. The boys showed up ready to compete and worked hard for one another to get the victory. Braydon Wickey turned it on for a masterclass in attack with Marley leading the team in defence. A great effort boys well done! MVP : Braydon Wickey |

It was a tough game playing one short against Mount Carmel. The girls tried hard but were outplayed across all facets. Some special mentions, Laura Augustine took 2/-5 off her first over and Bridget Shearer batted twice, contributing 30 runs to our score. We look forward to an improved performance next week. A few general reminders:
- Please make sure you are on time for Sport each Tuesday, and read the run sheet on Tuesday morning. Socks need to be white or JTCC socks, and visible at or above the ankle.
- The new MISA/Representative shorts can be purchased for $20 from the Finance Office, and picked up from the Sports Office. There are Rugby/AFL, OzTag and Multi shorts.
Varying Abilities Program
On Tuesday morning, students participated in the Varying Abilities program delivered by the West Tigers. Varying Abilities is an accessible program that aims to create an integrated and inclusive environment for all students.The program encourages students to focus on ability, and raises awareness on the importance of respecting our differences as a community.
A great and noisy time was had by all!
Diocesan Events
The next few weeks will see John Therry participate in a number of Diocesan events. JTCC sent three teams to the Diocesan Touch Carnival in Wollongong on Monday. The girls faced some tough competition and played well. All coaches were happy with their team's effort and sports(wo)manship. Overall results are as follows:
- 13’s - 8th
- 15’s - 4th
- Opens - 6th
Congratulations to the athletes that were selected to represent the Wollongong Diocese at the next level carnival in Nelson Bay next term:
- Kiara Bolz - Opens
- Ella Fisher - Opens (shadow)
Upcoming events U15 and Open Boys Rugby League trials by nomination and the Diocesan Swimming carnival. Team meetings and training times will be advertised, with students encouraged to read the daily announcements on Compass for more notices.
