CELEBRATING LEARNING AND SUCCESS

Each year, the John Therry community celebrates the hard work, dedication and achievements of our HSC students. On Thursday, 4th February, we invited our 2020 distinguished achievers to a College assembly to acknowledge their diligence and success. Olivia Mesa, our DUX for 2020, thanked her teachers, friends and family for their support as well as offered students advice about overcoming the inevitable obstacles in life highlighting the three things that kept her on track and led her to where she is today- hard and efficient work, kindness and gratitude. Olivia ended her speech with the following:

‘Work hard and humbly, know that nothing is ever achieved alone, be kind to others but more importantly, be kind to yourself, set goals, take pride in all that you do, and be grateful. Remember that, and everything else follows’.

Science Teachers’ Association - Young Scientist Award

As a school community, we acknowledged the great work of Hussain Alwaeli & Anthony Dellis (Year 12) for their work in Science Extension and for being acknowledged by the Science Teachers’ Association with a ‘Distinction’ for their entries and to Riley Tonna (Year 12) for winning the Bronze Young Scientist Award.

Outstanding Service to the Community Award

This award from the office of Dr M. Freelander acknowledges 'students who have gone above and beyond to support their peers’. This year, the award went to Thomas Dywer and Shontay McClymont Lucas for their kindness and thoughtfulness towards other students.

All in all, a wonderful day of celebration!
