SPORT REPORT TERM 4

Reminders:

  • The weather is heating up as we head into Summer. It is really important that students are wearing their hats, bringing a water bottle and applying sunscreen whenever they are participating in practical activities.
  • MISA students are not allowed to wear their MISA shorts on a Tuesday. They must bring them to school and change at the venue.

Round 3 Week 5 VS MT CARMEL CATHOLIC COLLEGE

All teams put in a fantastic effort and built on their first few rounds. Some teams have been posting huge scores, which is a credit to the athletes.  This term is a bit shorter than terms 1-3, with many of our competing schools finishing the term at different dates. Our teams have two more rounds to play before the Finals/ Interzone finals on the 1st of December. Good luck to all teams and coaches, keep training and working hard each week.

7-8 Girls Softball

Mr. Webb

JT

10-7

The girls managed to get their second win against Mount Carmel. After losing in the first game the girls have dramatically improved through their better understanding of the game. The girls fielded first and unfortunately let Mount Carmel get 4 home. Fortunately the girls rallied and got 5 across and set up an interesting last innings. Some great fielding and pitching from Sarah limited Mount Carmel to only 3 runs. This left us with only 3 runs to get for the win and the girls stormed home. Well done ladies!

MVP: Sarah Jansz

9-10 Girls Volleyball

Mrs. Pellegrino

MCC

0-2

A close first set with the JT girls only losing by 3 points. With the second set, the pressure got the better of them as they lost to Mt. Carmel. A strong opponent to defeat.

MVP: Shanae-Lee Leech Morrison

9-10  Boys Volleyball

Mr. Williamson

MCC

0-2

Played well but met our match today. Some of the best volleyball seen for this age group. Very close throughout especially the first game where we lost by 2. Whole team played well.

MVP: Devontay Zaglas

7-8 Girls AFL

Mrs. Stanley

MCC

2-17

The score definitely did not reflect the game, with an exceptional opposition, we displayed outstanding defence all the way to the end of the game. The game was extremely competitive, with our girls winning many challenges. Great leadership across the park from Alexis Paulo and communication from Achel Malek and Makerita, Malia and Navara also excelling out of position. So proud of the team's effort!

MVP : Fisiilila Angianga

7-8 Boys AFL

Mr. Geribo

82-2

The scoreline says it all. What a ripper!!

MVP : Darcy Wilson

9-10 Mixed Frisbee

Mr. Bodeker

JT

27-2

This week John Therry played Mt Carmel and we started the game strongly, leading 17-0 at half time. After half time we came back firing on all cylinders and were in control throughout the rest of the game. There was some fantastic display of passing and athleticism in our game, with Jayden Cook, Ella Fisher and Zac Morheb leading the way and dictating the pace in which we played. Shoutout to Kimi Matriano for setting up a touchdown with one of the best passes of the frisbee MISA has ever seen. We have managed to improve every week and their athleticism shown by this team continues to amaze me. The MVP of this week's round goes to Zac Morheb for an all round great performance.

9-10 Boys indoor Cricket

Mr. Chapman

MCC

37-64

The MISA cricket team had an underwhelming batting performance against Mt. Carmel. Our bowling and fielding restricted the opposition to only 64 runs, but unfortunately we couldn't bring it home with the bat.

MOM : Brendan Thomas

7-8 Boys Oztag

Mr. McGrath

JT

7-2

Another great win against a competitive Mount Carmel team. A slow start to the game saw Mount Carmel grow with confidence early on. To the boys credit, they got back to what they did best and won convincingly, showing great signs for the remainder of the season.

MVP : Riley Oitmann

7-8 Girls Oztag

Mr. Tran

MCC

1-7

The sun was out and the skin wasn't the only thing cooking. The Mt Carmel team came out all guns blazing and put 5 tries to 0 on in the first half. The JT ladies fired back quickly in the second half thanks to Gabby Sloan and Grace O'Reilly with multiple close calls in a much improved half. The brick wall in defence Erin Murtz with the well deserved MVP.
