10-12 Boys Softball

Mr Bodeker

Won

11-4

A whole team effort this week enabled us to play our best game of the season. We defeated the previously undefeated Mt Carmel side 11-4. Despite a shaky start, the boys regained their composure and were able to come away comprehensive winners. Well done Boys.

MVP - Morgan McPhee

10-12 Girls Indoor Cricket

Mr Geribo

Won

80-68

We started off fielding and restricted them to a low score. It wasn’t our best batting performance today, as we lost 7 wickets, but each pair managed to get a respectable score, all contributing to us winning.

MVP: Deborah Madriaga

Soccer Boys 11-12

Mr Williamson

Lost

2-0

Lack of urgency at the start of the game saw us go in 1 behind early. Despite several good chances we couldn’t convert. The heat and a lack of physical condition cost us. Good effort to try and catch up. A game we could have won.

MVP: Joshua Anderson

10-12 Soccer Girls

Mr Holmes

Lost

11-0

The girls played with good spirit practicing their tackles, interception and defensive structure. Only 9 players available to play made it a difficult task. Hopefully more players will recover from sickness and injury for next week.

MVP: Arech Nyarnhom

Netball Girls 11-12

Mrs Pellegrino

Lost

37-8

A hard defeat but the team kept their heads up and kept the pressure on. Working on their positioning across the court, the girls have made a great improvement, just not enough to defeat MTC.

MVP. Jade Pritchard

Mixed Frisbee

7-9

Mr Wakeling

Won

41-1

A great start gave us a commanding lead that everyone continued to build on. A great defensive effort enabled plenty of turnover attacking options. Skill execution was of an all time high with plenty of great catches.

MVP: William Craig

7-9 Basketball Boys

Mr Peters

Won

33-16

Tough and hard encounter played outside, Dominating the key was the basic of the win, there the forwards were furious in defence.

MVP: Goc Malual

7-9 Basketball Girls

Miss Randall

Lost

15-13

An extremely slow start which ultimately cost us the game. The girls had a fantastic 2nd half, but the timer beat us in the end. The girls need to work on their offence going into next week.

MVP: Allanda Lumagui

7-9 Hockey Boys

Mr Webb

Lost

3-0

We tried our best and were unfortunate to lose. A great all round effort from all team members. Mount Carmel were a very talented team but we challenged them throughout the match. We struggled to get the ball through the oppositions midfield and in behind their defence. Our defence struggled against Mount Carmel’s attack. A great effort boys and lets have a positive mindset going into the next match and win.

MVP: Thomas Augustine

Opens Rugby League

Mr Tran + Mr McGrath

SPORT NEWS TERM 2- WEEK 2

After a great start to MISA term 2 with John Therry picking up 15 out of a possible 20 victories we faced tough competition in Mount Carmel today. On a sunny 27 degree Autumn day, John Therry was victorious in 4 matches and unfortunately went down in our other five matches. The girls basketball team were very unlucky to lose, finishing strongly but just falling short. Perhaps some training/ player recruitment could help boost our finals chances.

With limited players in our 11-12 girls Netball team, and senior girls soccer team (year 10-12). I am asking for our senior girls to step up. Any interested players please email Mr Goodhew or visit the sports office to discuss.

Numbers in detention are also still too high, reminder to bring your hats for sport and ensure you read your emails and daily notices regarding buses.

FREE INDOOR CRICKET COACHING CLINIC (under 10’s and 12’s)

Please see the flyer attached for information regarding a free coaching clinic for indoor cricket. The Centre has also ensured under 13’s will be allowed to participate. This could be good for any of our Year 7 students or for families with younger children interested in cricket.

GOOD LUCK

Rugby League:

Three of our John Therry boys will be representing the Southern Country team in just over a week. This gives the boys an opportunity to make the NSW team.

  • Callum Van Diesen
  • Emmanneul Fatialofa
  • Ray Redmond

Soccer:

Patrick Picot, Baxter Sparks and Olivia Sloan were selected in the Opens Diocese soccer teams and will represent the Diocese at Valentine Sports park in just under 2 weeks time. We wish our students the best of luck!

Cross Country:

Bridget Shearer - 6th

Paul Salmond- 3rd

Olivia Southby- 4th

Will go onto represent the Diocese at the next level CCC. Well done and best of luck.

Our goal next year is to make our school carnival more competitive and increase participation (particularly of our senior girls) to ensure we have maximum competitors in all races.
