10-12 Boys Softball

Mr Bodeker

5-3 Loss

We went into our second softball game after a win last week. We versed a strong St Benedict’s side and after the first innings concluded St Benedict’s were leading 2-0. The second innings concluded 3-2 in favour of John Therry but going into the final innings St Benedict’s proved too strong and ended up winning the game 5-3. The highlight of the game came via a Nick Junior Constantin home run which put us ahead. Unfortunately a few silly errors led to St Benedicts taking out the game.

MVP - Nick Junior Constantin.

10-12 Girls Indoor Cricket

Mr Geribo

127-43 Win

A much improved all round performance this week as our girls defeated St Benedicts. Our bowling was accurate and our innings in the field was capped off with a very sharp catch by Olivia at point blank range. We batted well with Jessica Whelan our top scorer.

MVP: Jessica Whelan

Soccer Boys 11-12

Mr Williamson

3-2 Win

The type of win a season can be built on. Early mistake led to us going 1-0 down. Despite many opportunities a further mistake led to a 2-0 deficit. Great play in the last ten minutes saw us score 3 goals and emerge victorious.

MVP:Machar Bol

10-12 Soccer Girls

Mr Holmes

4-2 Win

An exciting well matched game. The girls surprised themselves with an early lead. Olivia and Sophia combined well to get the score to 3-0. Two cheap goals meant a comeback was on but Sophia stepped up to score again. Two goals each from Olivia and Sophia combined with excellent defending from Tahlia, Kelsey, Adut and Tahlia.

MVP: Adut Bol

Netball Girls 11-12

Mrs Pellegrino

28-18 Loss

With only six girls on the court, all players kept up their game, keeping pressure onto SBCC. Although the girls lost, with one player down they are to be commended on their ongoing effort and gameplay.

MVP: Jade Pritchard

Mixed Frisbee

7-9

Mr Wakeling

31-11 Win

A good team game that highlighted how important defence is. With the game being very close at the start of the second half everyone lifted defensively. Once we did this the team moved more freely on the offensive end and our skill level and confidence increased.

MVP: Erin Murtz

7-9 Basketball Boys

Mr Peters

Fair effort, although there is ample room for improvement both offensively and defensively. Great games by Eli Matic and Devontay Zaglas.

MVP: Eli Matic (17 points, 9 Rebounds).

7-9 Basketball Girls

Miss Randall

33-19 Win

Overall a great game by the girls with awesome defensive pressure. Continued practice in shooting and offensive plays will be essential for our next game.

MVP: Shanae- Lee Leach Morrison

7-9 Hockey Boys

Mr Webb

BYE

Training at Hockey ovals this week.

Opens Rugby League

Mr Tran + Mr McGrath

58-0 Win

Verse- Good Samaritan

In a high scoring affair the boys stayed composed and showed good sportsmanship. We were solid in the middle with our outside backs playing off the back of them.

MVP: Emmanneul Fatialofa

SPORT NEWS TERM 2- WEEK 2

After a great start to MISA Term 2 with John Therry picking up 7 out of a possible 10 victories, the teams continued their form today winning 8 out of 10 matches. A great start but a few tough rounds coming up could be the difference in final placings. Thank you to all students who have taken to representing the school with pride each week. With limited players in our 11-12 girls Netball team, we are requesting any Senior Netballers to see Mrs Pellegrino to express your interest in playing MISA netball.

On a negative note a number of students today were in detention unfortunately, due to permissions notes not being returned and many for not wearing a hat to sport. Students please ensure this is rectified for next week.

NEW BASKETBALL JERSEYS

Our boys and girls team wore our new John Therry  Basketball Jerseys for the first time yesterday and continued our great basketball tradition with strong wins over St Benedicts.

His time for the event was 1.34.05, which is 6 seconds faster than his time at the at the CCC swimming tournament.

DIOCESE SPORT

A busy start to term two for Diocese sport with three male and female soccer teams representing the school in week 1. Whilst many students also backed up their soccer performance by running at the Diocese Cross country in Nowra.

Overall we had some very positive results at all tournaments.

Diocese Soccer- At the soccer the highlights included our senior boys and intermediate teams, who both made the grand final, unfortunately going down to Edmund Rice in narrow defeats. Further Patrick Picot, Baxter Sparks and Olivia Sloan were selected in the Opens Diocese soccer teams and will represent the Diocese at Valentine Sports park later in the term. We wish our students the best of luck!

Both the boys and girls teams were a credit to the school in terms of behaviour and spirit shown. Thank you to all coaches for taking teams.

Diocese Cross Country- Another early start at 6:00am for the trip down to Nowra to compete at the cross country. Again our behaviour and spirit was excellent throughout the day and we had some strong performances verse tough competition.

  • Bridget Shearer - 6th
  • Paul Salmond- 3rd
  • Olivia Southby- 4th

They will go on to represent the Diocese at the next level CCC. Well done and best of luck.

Our goal next year is to make our school carnival more competitive and increase participation (particularly of our senior girls) to ensure we have maximum competitors in all races.
