ARTEXPRESS EXCURSION 2020
On Thursday March 5th, sitting in the front four rows of the auditorium at the Art Gallery of NSW, all four Year 11 and 12 Visual Arts classes attended the Artexpress ‘From the classroom to the Gallery’ study morning, amongst the very best schools in the state. Four Artexpress students gave talks about their bodies of work.
‘Artexpress’ is an exhibition of the very best practical artworks from Visual Arts students from across the state. After the talk, our students were the only school to ask the Artexpress students presenters, questions on how to work smarter to improve their marks. Our school has had twenty two Visual Arts students nominated for Artexpress over the last ten years, the most in our region in that time.
After the Study morning, the classes investigated different parts of the gallery to reinforce content covered in class; Year 11 investigated historical Western Art, while Year 12 examined the Contemporary exhibition spaces. On behalf of Mrs. Hume and myself (Year 11 and 12 teachers), we congratulate our students’ behavior and positive contribution on the day, which was exemplary. Thank you also to Mrs. O’Brien who did a marvelous job assisting with all students on the day.
