Our annual Year 7 Welcome BBQ and information evening was a great success this week. Staff, parents and students enjoyed a barbeque dinner with the college executive, pastoral coordinators and learning group mentors. This was a great way for families to feel informed and connected to the college community. 

Each house was allocated a classroom where students could introduce their parents to their learning group mentor. Learning Group was explained and there was an opportunity to ask any questions that may have arisen after six weeks of high school. 

Many parents also had the opportunity to chat and make new acquaintances. Thank you to Mr McGrath, Mr Muscatello, Mr Pearce, Mrs Roet, Miss Schnebli, Mr Bodeker and Miss Killen for running these small group talks. 

Mrs Ramchandra discussed the college assessment policy and assessment handbook. These are available on Google Classroom and will be uploaded to the new college website.

Mr Marshall spoke about the partnership we have as teachers and parents. We work together to provide the best outcomes for the students. The large attendance showed that families are very supportive of their child's education at John Therry. 

Mr Humbles and Mr McAllister spoke about compass, communication, pastoral care, wellbeing and daily structures. 

Thanks also to Mr Martyn and Mr Robinson for your attendance on the night and for cooking the BBQ.

We look forward to a great year ahead for our Year 7 cohort.
