STUDENT FUTURES UPDATE
Welcome back to 2020 and the first activities completed this year in the area of future career opportunities.
Already this year we have had a number of talks and visits for students.
Year 10 have had the opportunity to:
- Log onto the “JOBJUMP” Program to enable them to explore a wide range of topics concerning their Future and what might suit them in the coming year or two.
- Complete a “Google Form” with basic information about their current thoughts on future directions which will allow me to contact them with relevant information.
- Attend a talk by “My Gateway” about Apprenticeships/ Traineeships and the preparation needed if considering this option after Year 10,11 or 12.
- Read Careers Newsletters, sent to Students and Parents, which contain a wide range of information about future options.
I hope students and parents will discuss this information to gain a better understanding of the possibilities available.
Year 12
Study periods on Tuesday afternoons are available for students to discuss pathway options after Year 12. I am allocated here for ease of access for students. I have started interviewing each student (commenced Term 4 Last year) and linking them to areas of interest. This will continue till the end of Term 3 and beyond if required. I am also available on Thursdays in my office.
Y12 WSU Fast Forward Day- 25/2/2020
WSU Fast Forward day was an opportunity for Year 12 students, who have been in the program since Year 9, to attend a final day at the Parramatta south campus. Here they had lectures of a general nature re university options and pathways as well as sessions of their own choice in areas of interest to them.
GENERAL INFORMATION POSTS
As well as Careers Newsletters to Students and Parents, there is also a constant flow of information on the Students email and Year group “Google Classroom” pages from other sources especially Work and Course providers.
I hope that with the combined efforts of Students, Parents and the School resources of Information and Personnel, we can achieve a great and meaningful outcome for each student.
