SPORTS NEWS
This will be my final sport report for John Therry Catholic High School as I take on a new challenge at St Gregory’s College next year. During my eleven years at John Therry the sporting culture has continued to grow and improve, particularly in the MISA region.
This week we were crowned winners of the MISA championship for the third year in a row, an exceptional effort! The 2018 calendar year (Term 4 2017- Term 3 2018) saw us win 11 trophies, whist this calendar year we have improved to win 16 trophies. On top of this we have started the 2019 calendar year by winning 5 MISA trophies this term, as I leave John Therry, I know the sporting culture will continue to grow and improve in 2020.
I would personally like to thank the school Executive for their support of sport and myself throughout the year. Mrs Leach for all of her help with junior sport this year and all of the Teachers who have coached teams, held extra training sessions and guided students during games and around the grounds at JT. I would also like to thank all of the students who I have had the privilege of coaching since 2009, our league and basketball have been very strong during this time and I have seen the growth of sports like soccer, volleyball and ultimate frisbee.

Jack Crawford Games:
Jack Crawford games is a unique school carnival held in memory of the late Jack Crawford who was a founding and influential member of the John Therry community. Our school ovals and the carnival are both named after Jack Crawford.
John Therry will be hosting its annual “Jack Crawford Games” on the Monday 16th December, Week 10. The students will be involved in a number of activities that will promote teamwork, house spirit and flashes of individual brilliance. The Carnival is always a student favourite and involves a rotation of a number of different sports and activities. Student compete in house based matches in year groups to collect points to become the Jack Crawford winner. More details will follow shortly from your house captains.
