SPORT REPORT TERM 4

Round 3 Week 4 VS St Benedict’s and St Patricks

MISA RECAP: After an excellent week VS MCCC (winning 7 out of 9 games) the JT team faces St Patricks College and St Benedict’s College today.

After a few warmer weeks at sport we were relieved with some cooler weather for our MISA competition and recreational sport. There was a slight breeze which did not seem to affect our volleyball and frisbee teams. This week we unfortunately did have one bus not turn up meaning our Softballers were unable to play their game verse St Patrick’s. Disappointing after building some great momentum with a close win against MCCC. We are now at the midpoint of the competition and it is time for our teams to refocus work to achieve the best result possible.

Students leaving sporting venues:

A number of students have asked to leave recreation sport venues in recent weeks with a written permission note. A written permission note asking to walk from a venue is not to be accepted. We have a legal obligation to supervise the students until 2:40, hence students will need to come back to school to be dismissed. If a parent signs their student out from the venue that is the only exception (eg. has watched son/ daughter play a MISA game).

Thank you for your support in this matter.

No game today - bus issue.

10-11 Girls Volleyball

Mrs Pellegrino

JTCHS

(Vs St Pats)

3-0

Another win for the JT girls. After a strong first set, the girls played a little too relaxed in the second set but still dominated the court, winning the first three sets. Strong communication and teamwork paid off.

MVP: Georgina Boh Merhi

7-9 Girls Oztag

Mr Tran

(Mr Fogherty)

St Pats

8-1

We played well in the beginning and as the game progressed our efforts were not up to our usual standard. This gives us something to work on and improve in the coming weeks.

MVP: Ella Fisher

7-9 Girls AFL

Mrs Stanley

St Pats

37-27

The girls played hard and were very competitive throughout the match. Unfortunately we need to improve our accuracy in scoring goals- something to work on in the final weeks.

MVP: Danielle Newby

10-11 Mixed Frisbee

Mr Wakeling

JTCHS

(Vs St Pats)

15-6

A slow start that gave St Pats many chances. A close half time score with three points in it. A much stronger second half that showed our real potential.

MVP: Nikita Maika -Teal

7-9 Boys indoor Cricket

Mr Bodeker

JTCHS

(Vs St Benedicts)

88-55

A comprehensive victory today against a previously undefeated St Benedict’s side. We got off to a great start with the bat, with Aaron Stonebridge and Brendan Thomas putting together an impressive partnership of 46. We were clinical with the ball and also in the field, resulting in a comfortable win.

MVP - Brendan Thomas

10-11 Boys Volleyball

Mr Williamson

JTCHS

(Vs St Benedicts)

3-0

First proper game on the newly refurbished school courts and the undefeated run continues. The start of a dynasty at the home fortress that will hopefully last as long as this season.

MVP: Luke Kotsou

7-9 Boys Oztag

Mr McGrath

JTCHS (Vs St Benedicts

14-2

A solid win by JT with a few members missing. Our strength in attack gave us a convincing lead that resulted in dominance from John Therry. Well done boys.

MVP: Riley Oitmann

7-9 Boys AFL

Mr Geribo

JTCHS

(Vs St Benedicts)

38-24

A couple of strong marks by James in our forward line and plenty of applied pressure at ground level contributed to a solid first half, which saw us lead 31-0 at the break. St Benedicts were able to turn the momentum of the game in the second half and get right back in the contest but our boys were able to steady the ship, kicking a late goal to seal the win.

MVP: Tom Stephenson
