PRINCIPALS REPORT
Today is the Feast Day of St Mary MacKillop, Australia's first Saint, and someone we can look to as a great model of courage, compassion, and steadfast faith. Her tireless dedication to the dignity and education of every young person, particularly those most in need, inspires the work we aim to do here and now at John Therry. Even through great hardship, her deep faith inspired her to trust in God, persevere with hope, and respond with love — reminding us in her own words to “never see a need without doing something about it.”
Our Year 12 students have just finished their first week of the Trial HSC examinations, one of the most challenging parts of the entire HSC journey. This is largely because these trials form part of their school-based assessment, while students are still completing classwork and assessments right up until the exams begin. We have been very impressed with the effort and diligence our Year 12 students have shown, and we keep them in our prayers as they strive to do their best through the challenges of the HSC.
At our most recent assembly, Dylan from Year 12 delivered a wonderful message to our student body about dedication — one of the key qualities in our JT PRIDE statement, which highlights Purpose, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Engagement. I have included his speech below and invite you to read this powerful message. I commend Dylan for both the inspiring content and the confident, heartfelt delivery of his address to our College community.
