MISA DANCE FESTIVAL 2025
The JTCC Dance Team produced an outstanding work of Dance Artistry that featured at the MISA Dance festival 2025. The girls were able to fuse their diverse dance styles to collectively create a detailed and meaningful work titled Fight, Flight, Fawn, Freeze and Faith. The intention of the work was to explore the ‘4 F’s of Fear’ and the trauma response of being broken, torn and worn down in relationships. The 5 th ‘F’, Faith, was proposed in our 2nd work which was about trusting in God who walks beside us as we learn resilience by choosing faith over fear and hope over despair, this being our 2025 Marist Theme.
The girls, mostly from year 7 & 8 have worked so hard and have demonstrated maturity in stepping out of their comfort zone in regards to contemporary dance style and technique and most notably in choreography. At the Festival it was clear that JTCC offered something different and special and our work was truly distinctive. I would like to thank the girls for taking artistic risks and trusting in the creative process to make meaningful Dance works of Artistic merit and excellence. More importantly the positive relationships forged is remarkable, a dance Culture where each member of the group is valued and empowered to realise their potential, to dance with heart, spirt, self-conviction and grace. Dance at JTCC is all about Passion. I look forward to creating a strong Dance program here at the college, and
these girls will lead the way.
