DRONE INCURSION - STEM EXPERIENCE
This week, our Year 7 students participated in the fourth drone incursion as part of our ongoing STEM program. Led by an instructor from Surf Life Saving NSW, the session explored the many uses of drone technology, including a valuable discussion on gender bias in certain industries.
Students learned to pilot drones manually before moving on to coding their own flight paths. This required spatial awareness, problem-solving, and persistence as they worked to program the drones to fly over specific areas.
It was a rewarding and engaging experience, with students rising to the challenge and developing new skills in a hands-on way.
“It was a fun and interesting experience that I thoroughly enjoyed.” – Sophie Kumutat (Year 7)
