YEAR 10 CRIME FICTION INCURSION
JT Supersleuths Solve the Scintillating Scandal
On Thursday and Friday of Week 4 Year 10 students took part in a Crime Fiction incursion.
This learning experience provided students with two unique cases of malicious malfescents in which they had to explore the various clues and items in evidence to crack the case wide open. Students heard from experts in the field of crime fiction writing and true crime detective work to better understand the components of the genre and see how real world experience and research adds to the creative process. As they navigated the cases and exhibits in evidence they learned that with each viewing of footage, reading of notes and documenting of material they learned just how deep the rabbit hole of policing goes.
Noah Donovan and Jackson Ayers said that it "allowed them to use their brains and engage in a hands-on experience." Deng Deng described it as "a once-in-a-lifetime educational opportunity." Liam Denniss, Josh Booth, and Azor Ruiz reflected that "it allowed us to make deductive mistakes and then reconsider what we thought was fact or fiction." Maddi Giles summed it up as "the most interesting incursion ever attended."
