YEAR 11 PASTORAL DAY

The Year 11 pastoral day, themed "Me to We," was an inspiring and reflective event
designed to reinforce the importance of teamwork and community as students near the end of their high school journey. The day began with a thought-provoking session led by Mr Robinson, who emphasised the critical role that teamwork will play in navigating the challenges of the HSC. He reminded students that while the final exams can feel like an individual endeavour, the support of friends, family, and teachers can make a world of difference.

Following this, the students were invited to reflect on their journey since Year 7, revisiting memories from their Year 7 camp. They watched a nostalgic video that took them back to the very start of their high school experience, reminding them how far they have come and how much they have grown, both as individuals and as a year group. This reflection served as a powerful reminder that the friendships and bonds they formed early on continue to be a source of strength as they approach the end of their high school journey.

The day continued with an engaging trivia session on the history of John Therry Catholic College, where students were able to deepen their connection to the school community. This was followed by a fun and interactive riddle quest that saw them working in teams within their learning groups. Students were then divided into small groups and worked through group challenges on the courts and oval that tested their patience and communication skills. The collaborative spirit extended into their shared meals during recess and lunch, fostering a sense of unity and belonging across the entire year group.

To close out the day, students participated in a variety of wellbeing sessions run by their learning group mentors. These sessions offered a range of activities designed to promote mental and physical wellness, including spray painting art, fitness sessions, crochet, board games, and woodwork. The mix of creative, active, and relaxing activities allowed each student to engage in ways that resonated with them, reinforcing the message that personal wellbeing is as much a team effort as academic success. A big thank you to all of the staff that invested in Year 11.
