10-12 Girls Softball Vs Broughton |
Mr Webb |
Won 6-4 Vs Broughton Anglican |
Girls once again kept the winning streak going, with a 6-4 win. Broughton fought back in the last innings but the girls stayed strong with Emily Smidt pitching well to keep them from scoring. MVP: Emily Smidt |
10-12 Boys Indoor Cricket |
Mr Williamson |
Won 88-70 |
Going from strength to strength. Sensible and commanding performance against the other undefeated team. Good partnerships from all our batters with cool heads and quick hands. Great triply juggle catch from our MVP: Kyle Kalabric |
Soccer Boys 7-8 |
Mr Wakeling |
Lost 2-1 |
A slow start to the game and we never recovered. A great freekick and follow up gave us a good lead. However lack of communication allowed MCC back in. The second half we allowed MCC too much time on the ball, which they converted into goals. MVP: Deakin Coman |
Soccer Boys 9-10 |
Mr Holmes |
Won 3-1 |
The boys started off with high intensity leading to the creation of many opportunities, despite this MCC took the lead. JT eventually found 3 goals to follow up from Kynan, Geoff and Captain Josh Mickan. MVP: Josh Mickan |
Soccer Girls 7-9 |
Mrs Geribo |
Loss 1-0 |
It was a close and physical encounter against Mount Carmel, with Mount Carmel having the upper hand early on. We regained control but were unable to capitalise on our opportunities and went into the break at 1-0. Mount Carmel came out firing in the second half, scoring with 10 minutes to go to be 1-0 winners. MVP: Annalise Hodson |
Netball Girls 7-8 |
Mrs Pellegrino |
Lost 30-9 |
Although the JT girls did not win, it was one of their toughest games and all girls played exceptionally well. There have been great improvements made from our training session and the girls showed great dedication and sportsmanship. MVP: Montanah Wade |
Netball Girls 9-10 |
Miss Randall |
Lost 17-15 |
A fantastic start by the girls, however silly mistakes and lack of communication saw the girls lose the ball one too many times. Great defensive pressure by Sokowa Parker, Sarah White and Danielle Newby. MVP: Sarah White |
AFL Boys 10-12 |
Mr Bodeker |
Lost 77-31 |
A solid effort from the boys today but unfortunately we went down to a well drilled Mt Carmel team. The boys never gave up and kept trying until the final whistle which is testament to their attitude and effort despite an injury to one of our players. Strong efforts from Saymon Sengal, Faaoli Wulf and Braydon Wickey all over the park. MVP - Thomas Dwyer |
AFL Girls 10-12 |
Miss Leach |
Draw 41-41 |
JT started strongly, with some solid defense keeping us in the lead at half time. The tackle of the day went to Georgina Bou Merhi, a fantastic effort. The second half saw a drop in concentration and Mount Carmel came back into the lead. Some snappy goals by Jenna Steele and Sophia Pacheco pulled us back into a draw. MVP: Georgina Bou Merhi |
Under 15’s Rugby League |
Mr Tran, Mr McGrath |
Won 36-14 |
Another excellent performance by a strong group of young men. Strong defence set the tone early and was backed up by heavy runs. Forwards rotated and worked well together to set up our backs. MVP: William Craig and Emmanuel Fatiolofa |
Round three of MISA again brought some fantastic winter weather making conditions for sport ideal. This week we faced tough competition in Mount Carmel Catholic College with some mixed results throughout. Overall coaches have been impressed with the effort of all of the players, who continue to show great sportsmanship each week, despite the match results.
This Friday we have the Diocese Athletics Carnival held at Campbelltown. Over seventy of John Therry’s best athletes have qualified to compete against all of the Catholic High Schools in the Wollongong Diocese (includes schools from Edmondson Park all the way to Nowra). The first place in each event at the carnival will get the opportunity to go to the Combined Catholic Colleges (CCC) athletics carnival to represent the Diocese of Wollongong. We wish all of our competitors, especially our year 7 competitors all the best for the day.
A big thank you to those students that have volunteered to umpire/ referee at the PSSA (Primary school) Gala day from our local area. We had fantastic reports from our primary schools about the fantastic work of our year 7 and 8 volunteers.
