FEAST DAY OF MARY MACKILLOP

On Thursday 8th August we celebrate the Feast Day of Saint Mary MacKillop. Mary MacKillop’s unwavering dedication to education and her compassionate spirit serve as inspiration for us all. Despite facing numerous challenges, she founded the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart and established schools, orphanages, and refuges across Australia, providing hope and opportunity to countless children and families. Her resilience, kindness, and commitment to helping those in need remind us of the power of faith and perseverance. We best honour her memory by embodying these values in our daily lives and striving to make a positive difference in our community.

Olympic Games
If we are looking for inspiriation, then there is also plenty coming from the Olympic games. Individuals pushing for human excellence across all range of sports is fascinating to watch and I am in awe at the dedication and commitment of the Athletes. Australia's results in particular are something to be proud of and show what can be achieved with hard work. We congratulate ex-student Natalie Van Coevorden for her wonderful achievements in representing Australia and serving as an inspiration to us all here at John Therry.
What will you do with your one wild and precious life?

We are not all called to be Saints or Olympic champions, and we do not need to be to lead meaningful lives.  We remember that in living out our lives as followers of Jesus, our greatest impact will be from how we treat others, particularly those most vulnerable and in need of our help and support. Let us be inspired by Mary Mackillop in living out our lives in service of others.
