YEAR 8 ENGLISH POETRY
This term, our Year 8 English students have been learning about poetry. In commemoration of NAIDOC week (7 - 14 July 2024), students created blackout poems using an extract from Kevin Rudd's inaugural speech to the nation, a formal "Apology to Australia's Indigenous People". Students experimented with form, portraying traditional Indigenous artwork, in order to communicate a message about the ongoing effects resulting from the Stolen Generation and other government policies on Australia's First Nations people.
