ARTEXPRESS EXHIBITION
ARTEXPRESS Exhibition at Ngununggula Southern Highlands Regional Gallery
The ARTEXPRESS exhibition officially opened at the Ngununggula Southern Highlands Regional Gallery in Bowral on Saturday, May 25th, at 2:00 PM. Running from May 18th to June 30th, this prestigious event showcases exemplary artworks created by New South Wales visual arts students for the Higher School Certificate examination.
Among the selected artists is our very own HSC Visual Arts student, Angelica Estrada. Her work, 'The Grain of the Present,' was chosen for this esteemed exhibition, highlighting some of the best talent in the state.
ARTEXPRESS is an annual series of exhibitions celebrating the exceptional talents of young artists. The opening event was attended by distinguished guests, including principals, visual arts teachers, student artists, and officials from the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA).
Angelica's artist statement for her work reads:
"In the hustle and bustle of Philippine streets, a captivating narrative unfolds - an unfiltered depiction of raw human emotions and authentic moments. My body of work examines the interplay of light and shadows, delving into the intricacies of daily life. My intention is to investigate, through my lens, the essence of the present, emphasizing the profound beauty of the ordinary. I peel back the layers of cultural diversity, social struggles, and the resilient spirit that defines the Filipino people. The grain of each photo conveys a tapestry of memories in a nation firmly rooted in tradition yet embracing an ever-changing world."
We are immensely proud of Angelica's achievement, not only for her selection in ARTEXPRESS but also for achieving a Band 6 result in Visual Arts, alongside eight of her peers from last year’s HSC Visual Arts class.
