PRINCIPALS REPORT
Champagnat Day Liturgy and Awards
On Thursday 6th June, we celebrate the Feast Day of Marcellin Champagnat, founder of the Marist Brothers. John Therry was created by Brother Clarence, a Marist Brother, and the school retains links to Marist Schools Australia as one way we live our faith life here at John Therry.
We held our annual Champagnat Day liturgy and awards ceremony on Thursday morning and it was a lovely celebration as always. These awards are some of my favourite that we give out, as they are nominated by students and teachers for those individuals who live out our Marist values of humility, simplicity and presence. In our next newsletter we will share some highlights from this assembly including our award winners.

I shared a few exceprts of a modernised fouviere pledge with staff this week. Marcellin and 12 other priests made this pledge in starting their 'Society of Mary' back in France in 1816, and I find this resonates strongly with the work we are doing here at John Therry.
"We want to be people who bring love to life. We seek to heal, to educate, and to accompany people to discover fullness of life."
"Our Marian way is to go joyfully and generously, looking to form life-giving relationships with people, that stir the liberating Spirit within them, so they too can become instruments of God's faithfullness, justice and mercy."
Lovely words for us to aspire to and live up to here at John Therry Catholic College in 2024.
P & F Meeting Week 8 6:30pm
We welcome all parents and friends of John Therry to our next P & F meeting. We will share a sample of our new college jumper that is made of poly cotton and has been very positively tested by a wide range of student volunteers. We will also discuss current and upcoming events, and will seek feedback on issues affecting students and parents at this time. We hope you can make it!
I will be taking some long service leave from week 8 to week 10 of Term 2. I thank Mrs Phillips who will be acting Principal, and Mr Ferguson who will be acting Assistant Principal in my absence, and I know that the school is in very capable hands to finish Semester 1.
