PRINCIPALS REPORT
Pentecost was celebrated at Mass last Sunday and marks a pivotal moment in the Catholic Church. This celebration, occurring 50 days after Easter, commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. As recounted in the Acts of the Apostles, this event empowered the disciples to boldly proclaim the message of Jesus, symbolising the birth of the Church's mission.
Pentecost serves as a reminder of the diverse unity within the Church and the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. It calls us to reflect on our openness to the Spirit's guidance in our lives and to be agents of change in our world. Let us pray for a renewed outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and community, guiding us in our faith journey.
One of our strategic priorities over the next few years is to ensure we have a really well structured wellbeing program across all year groups to support the growth and character development of our students. We have been working with a number of providers this year to support this program and have been very pleased with the current feedback from these programs. One that will run across all year groups is the mystrengths program, which aims "to give teens positive understanding of themselves, allowing them to discover and become defined by their strengths." Staff and student feedback has been really positive and you can find out more on their webpage.

Another wellbeing initiative that was recently held was our Healthy Minds program. This was run with year 8, Year 10, staff and parents on Wednesday 15th May. Healthy Minds is a prevention program for schools that aims to prevent and reduce the risk for the onset of symptoms of anxiety, depression, and eating disorders, while also building wellbeing and resilience. I thoroughly enjoyed this program and thank all of the parents who attended our evening session.
Catch up on all the latest news at our Facebook page including our Mother's Day breakfast on Monday 13th May for the first time since COVID. It was a nice opportunity to welcome parents to school to join in hospitality and the company of their children. It is so important to acknowledge the pivotal role that mothers play in our lives and to celebrate this.
