ARTEXPRESS EXHIBITION
The ARTEXPRESS exhibition opened with great fanfare at Penrith Regional Gallery on Saturday, May 11th, at 2:00 PM. This event marked the only ARTEXPRESS exhibition in Sydney’s Western suburbs, featuring a stunning collection of artworks from across New South Wales, including notable pieces from Sydney’s West.
Among the showcased artists was our own HSC Visual Arts student, Achan Ajak. ARTEXPRESS is a prestigious annual series of exhibitions that highlights exemplary artworks created by New South Wales visual arts students for the Higher School Certificate examination. The exhibition is a celebration of creativity and hard work, bringing together distinguished guests, principals, visual arts teachers, student artists, and NESA officials.
Achan’s Visual Arts body of work, titled ‘Stories of the Dark’, was selected for this esteemed exhibition, earning her a place among the best in the state. The honor of having Achan’s work included is a testament to her talent and dedication. Adding to the event’s prestige, ARTEXPRESS Virtual 2024 Curator Ron Pratt attended and chose Achan’s piece as one of only five works to discuss at a special forum for HSC Visual Arts teachers later that evening at the regional gallery.
We are incredibly proud of Achan’s achievement. Not only was her work selected for this prominent exhibition, but she also achieved a Band 6 result in Visual Arts, alongside eight of her peers from last year’s HSC Visual Arts class. This accomplishment reflects the high standards and exceptional talent nurtured within our school community.
Congratulations to Achan and all the student artists who contributed to making the ARTEXPRESS exhibition a resounding success!
