YEAR 10 VISUAL ARTS EXCURSION
On March 27 , both our Year 10 Visual Arts classes and our three Visual Arts teachers visited Wollongong Art Gallery. They experienced a three part program consisting of a practical Artmaking ‘Pop Art’ workshop, a guided tour of the current exhibitions of the gallery and a street walking tour of the vibrant public Art of Wollongong. These experiences aligned with the students first unit of work on Pop Art. They were immersed in Art both in and out of the gallery context.
The walking trail featured a diverse collection of galleries, studios, creative spaces, and a selection of public art. Students never knew what they would uncover as they strolled through the streets of Wollongong – from small pieces in alleyways, to multi-storey creations that took their breath away. The students certainly enjoyed the experience, learning about the conceptual and artmaking practices of the Artworld. Thank you to the students for their exemplary behaviour and the Year 10 Visual Arts teachers; Mrs. Hume and Mrs Cozzarin who made this excursion possible.
