ACTING PRINCIPALS REPORT
A Hope-Filled approach
Genesis 1:3 reads, “Then God said: ‘Let there be light’, and there was light.” Term 1 is a time of new beginning and new hopes. This “light”, hope, or sense of promise has been evident through the days of Term 1 at John Therry. Through the ways students interact, speak honestly, support one another and set goals, they have stepped outside of themselves to share a sense of hope. Students will be encouraged throughout the year to define their goals and explore their strengths through our pastoral care and wellbeing program. Students across Years 7-12 will be participating in pastoral incursions through Term 2 and 3 where skills in identifying and using personal strengths and gifts will be explicitly taught. This work is an acknowledgement of our belief that learning and wellbeing are deeply connected. Through a hope-filled approach, we aim to encourage both academic growth and spiritual growth in order for students to experience the fullness of life.
Term 1 Concludes
Term One has ended well and students are commended for the dedication to learning they have demonstrated. Progress reports are available via Compass for students in Year 7-10, and follow up Parent Teacher Student Interviews were successful through Thursday evening and this morning. We welcome the opportunity to discuss learning progress, and encourage families to also have discussions about these most recent reports.
Clover, our wellbeing dog, is settled into her routine attending school on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Clover attends classes, has rest lessons and is out and about during recess and lunch breaks. She has been a wonderful addition to the John Therry community, and we look forward to watching her grow and build connections with staff and students.
