PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
EASTER JOURNEY
As we close in on Easter, the most important time in our Church year, we are called to reflect on our Lenten journey. The Diocesan resource prepared for Lent is always a wonderful document that can certainly assist with our obligation to prayer. I have included an excerpt from the website below. If you scroll down on the webpage you can download previous years, and excerpts from this year that are worth a read.
"We are encouraged to look at this period of Lent as a journey. Lent reminds us that this is the season to turn away from our worldly distractions and journey home to God. This should be a time of inner reflection, and at the end of the Lenten journey, we should expect to find ourselves at a different place spiritually than when we started."
How is your Lenten season going?
OPEN DAY - YEAR 7 2025
We had a big turn out at our open day on Saturday 2nd March. This important event provides families the opportunity to meet some of our students and teachers, and explore our facilities as they consider the right high school for their child. I would like to thank the 100+ students, and our teachers who attended on a Saturday and gave up their time to showcase their school. Parents regularly comment at the enrolment interviews how impressed they were with our students and teachers and the welcoming feeling they received, and I am forever grateful for the wonderful sense of community at John Therry.
A reminder that applications are now completed online and these are available on our website (at this link). There are currently 190+ applications started for 180 places so it is important that any siblings complete the enrolment forms before the end of the term. Interviews will commence from the beginning of Term 2, hence the need for applications to be completed by the end of Term.
SENIOR AREA
Work is well and truly progressing on our new senior area and outdoor learning space. The removal of demountables and improvement of this space has been supported by P & F Funding and a $25,000 Government grant. Dr Mike Freelander and Chief of staff Todd Steele (ex school captain of John Therry) were out to check on how this was progressing and we were pleased to welcome them to John Therry.

I also thanks John Meek, our landscaper, and Graeme our groundsman who have done a tremendous job over a number of years improving our gardens and outdoor environment.

P & F MEETING - TUESDAY WEEK 8 6:30pm - Staff common room
All are welcome to join us at our P & F meeting on Tuesday evening. Come and see some sample tracksuit top materials, new long sleeve shirt options, and discuss other matters that you think can help improve our College.
SECURITY CAMERAS - CCTV
At our assembly this week we showed students a map of the CCTV cameras that we have around the school and some of their features. Most importantly, we explained that these are there for safety and security of all members of our community. Our cameras are not monitored at anytime, but are used to review incidents and are a strong deterrent for poor behaviour. I am pleased to say that we rarely need to use our cameras and that our students overwhelmingly do the right thing and look after our facilities and each other.
