R v Macbeth
8.2 - English

On Wednesday the 13th of September 2023, Macbeth, King of Scotland (Zephaniah McLean Lemalu), was tried by the prosecution on charges for the murder of King Duncan. The prosecution acting on behalf of the Crown, consisted of a dynamo team: Pri Maharaj, Emerson Hickey, and Jacob Xuereb.
The defence team, led by Isaac Oudgenoeg, in consultation with Cooper Gellel and Alfred Erumbanam, tentatively poked holes in Macbeth's story of blood, pain, and hunger on the battlefields. Pri was an absolute gun of a barrister: her tenacity ripped Lady Macbeth's (Tianna Clark) testimony to shreds. But alas, witness testimony from the three witches (Maddi Giles, Ruby Lipscombe, and Ella-Grace Bertie) cast doubt on the case. The jury, in a split verdict, found Macbeth not guilty of the charges. Our trial was a collaborative and fantastic effort from all students. Well done!
