PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Catholic Club Communion Mass

IMG_2531_2.jpg

Thank you to Vivienne, Alyssa, Allyssa and Isabella who represented John Therry at the Campbelltown Catholic Club Mass on Sunday 30th July. This was celebrated by Bishop Brian Mascord, Fr Ho and Fr Richard at St John's Parish Campbelltown, and attended by all of the Catholic Schools in the Macarthur region.

It is always nice to connect with our wider Catholic community. We remember that we are part of something much bigger than our own school community, and share a commitment to living out Jesus' teaching and our Gospel values.

Wellbeing dog

We announced at our Assembly last week that we look forward to welcoming a wellbeing dog into our school community through Dogs Connect. Our puppy has just been born by mum 'Frankie' and the photos above show mum and the litter of pups.

The breed of dog is a Cobber Dog who are specifically chosen for their temperament and non allergenic properties, making them ideal family and wellbeing dogs for communities.

Wellbeing dogs provide a range of benefits to the school community and the focus is on broad scale connectedness and wellbeing across the entire community. A team of staff are undertaking some significant training at the moment to ensure we meet all relevant guidelines and legislation on having animals in school communities. This includes the processes to ensure any students who might have phobias of dogs feel safe and are aware of how the wellbeing dog interacts with the community. Any student uncomfortable will not be required to be involved with our wellbeing dog.

There is a wealth of information available at https://dogsconnect.net.au and we will continue to provide updates in the coming months as we look to begin welcoming our pup to school next term.

Music performance night

A huge thankyou to our Music staff and Creative and Performing Arts Department for organising our Music Performance night on Thursday 27th July. It is always wonderful to see students so excited to perform and the buzz after coming off stage. This is something they will remember forever and these opportunties are so important.

The performances were wonderful and I never cease to be amazed at the wonderful gifts and talents of our students. We wish our Year 12 students the very best of luck with upcoming HSC performances and are so proud of all who had the courage to get up on stage and share their musical talents.
