Champagnat Week Celebrations
This week we celebrated Champagnat week, including the Feast Day of Marcellin Champagnat who founded the Marist Brothers, now with almost 600 Marist Schools around the World. Marcellin was inspired to action after coming across a dying 17 year old boy in rural France, who had no knowledge of Jesus or our Catholic Faith. This drove his commitment to ensuring the poor had access to an education, and knowing that they had a God who loved them.
The Marist Charism inspires our work at John Therry, with key characteristics shaping our approach to education.
In the Way of Mary - we are people of gentle strength and courage to do what is right, based on Mary and her example.
Simplicity, Presence and Family Spirit - nothing is more important than how we treat one another and we value being in good relationships with others.
And Love of Work - we are people of purpose and service to others, and are prepared to work hard for things that matter.
Staff and students nominated one another for awards for those who live out these values, and I believe that these are some of the most significant awards that one can receive. Congratulations to all those who received these awards, and to the many other students who received nominations.

Hospitality Evening
Congratulations to our Year 12 Hospitality students who organised a magnificent dinner for parents, family and staff on Wednesday 7th June. The quality of the food was amazing and service just outstanding.
Seeing the students in their element cooking and serving the food highlighted for me our Marist theme this year of being Created and Called - finding our purpose and what we are called to do. An important part of our work as a school is to give students opportunities to explore their gifts and talents and find their own calling and this was one small example of this.
Tell Them From Me - Parent Survey Feedback
Thanks to all of those who took time to complete our parent surveys. The information that came back has been reviewed by the College executive and is being considered in our strategic planning. We will be sharing this with the P & F on Tuesday evening, and publishing key feedback in the next newsletter. Feel free to join our P & F on Tuesday night at 6pm. It is normally a lovely informal chat and update on what is happening at school, and brainstorming ways we can improve the College. We would love to see you there!
Year 7 to 10 School Reports and Parent teacher evening
Teachers are currently busy marking final assessment tasks and completing reports that will be distributed at the end of the Term. We have scheduled our parent teacher evening for Monday 24th July (Week 2 Term 2) to discuss semester 1 progress and what can be done to improve for the second half of the year. We encourage you to make some time to meet with your child's teachers and ensure we are all working together to support them achieve their potential.
Athletics Carnival
Our annual Athletics Carnival was held on Friday 9th June at Campbelltown Stadium and was once again a wonderful community event. Full report in the next newsletter but some photos of the day can be seen on our Facebook page. Thank you to Mr Cook, Mr Bodeker and all staff who assisted on the day to run the event so smoothly.
