ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Uniform Matters

As we move towards the end of Term 1, students and parents / carers are reminded that our College uniform expectations remain high.

- Sports jackets are only to be worn with the sports uniform, not with the academic uniform.

- John Therry white sport socks (or plain white socks) are to be worn with the sport uniform. These must be visible (no ankle socks). Black socks are not to be worn with the sports uniform.

- Appropriate sports shoes must be worn for sport and PDHPE practical classes. Shoes for both boys and girls must be recognised as a sporting shoe. Shoes should not be black in entirety. Basketball, surf, skate, canvas, slip-on or similar shoes are not recognised as a sporting shoe and are not permitted.

Homework Club & Senior Study

Homework Club is held each Tuesday and Thursday from 3.20 - 4.30pm in the College Library. Senior Study also runs on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons until 5pm. The numbers of students attending homework club and study are steadily increasing.

For junior students, this time provides an opportunity to complete homework, prepare for assessments and work with teachers. There are many staff who generously give their time to these sessions to work with students and offer guidance.

For senior students, study provides an opportunity to engage in collaborative study, complete study notes and prepare for exams / assessments. Senior students are enouraged to attend these sessions where possible to build their study habits and skills.

Student Food Orders

We have noticed an increase in students arranging for food to be delivered to the College during break times. Students and parents / carers are reminded that our canteen facilities are available each recess and lunch and that students are not permitted to order food into the College.

Staff Professional Learning Day

On Monday 13th March, our teaching staff engaged in a professional learning day focused on strategic planning for the next four years of development of John Therry Catholic College. There is much to celebrate and acknowledge through the learning that has happened at the College, and there was rich discussion about how learning and wellbeing can be further embedded into the culture of John Therry. Professional Learning for teachers is critical to ensuring we are able to provide our students with the high quality education they deserve. The passion and dedication of our staff was evident through their collaboration on the day. Teachers reflected on and reviewed current teaching and learning practices at the College, and planned for ways to further embed effective learning into the John Therry culture.
