MR COOK

10-12 BOYS BASKETBALL

Won 32-30 vs Broughton

I am very excited to coach this energetic and talented group of young men this MISA season. Our first game against Broughton in Round 1 was a tale of two halves. The boys shot 5/29 in the first half and were soft in defense allowing Broughton to lead 18-12. A halftime rev up instilled the defensive attitude required to overcome our opponents. We slowly crawled back and soon had a 30-20 lead with 3 minutes to play. Our young back court will need to take more ownership in tight situations in future weeks if we are to claim more wins. Anyways, Broughton had a 4 point play and could not tie the game, which led them to multiple quick fouls, putting JTCC on the foul line to score a few more points.

Great effort by Kisione Tupola with 6 second half points while Adrian Narvais led all scorers with 7 points. Great contributions by all the boys.

MVP: Kisione Tupola

MR FIFITA

10-12 GIRLS BASKETBALL

Loss 42-18 vs St Pats

The girls started the season with a strong positive attitude in the beginning of the game but unfortunately they were beaten by a stronger St Pats team. Both Isabella-Grace Marshall and Allanda Lumagui played well in offense scoring several points whilst Annelise Hall defended well against the offensive assault of St Pats. Overall, the team played well but did not get the win. However, with training we should be able to stay competitive in the MISA competition.

MVP: Annelise Hall

MR WILLIAMSON

7-9 BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Lost 2-0

vs Mt Carmel

A sound first up performance with room for improvement through the season. Performed well but lost to a more experienced outfit.

MVP: William Chanhdara

MRS HYNARD

7-9 GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Lost 2-0

vs Mt Carmel

All the girls in the team were novices to Volleyball today but they had a fun time. They played to the best ability and gained invaluable knowledge and skills during their first ever match. Improvements were evident by the end of the game. With regular recess practice some wind will be had by the end of the season I'm sure.

MVP: Sophie Regan

MR TRAN

Mrs Pellegrino

10-12 GIRLS OZ TAG

Lost 6-4 vs St Pats

A rocky first half of the game with the JT girls down 6-0. After a team chat at half time the girls brought their A-game, working together as a team through communication and support. Within the first 10minutes of the second half the girls added 2 tries to the scoreboard. Their confidence was up.

In the last 3 minutes of the game, the girls added another 2 points to the score, finishing the game at 6-4. Although they didn’t get the win, the come back from 6-0 was exceptional. All players should be proud of their efforts and how well they worked as a team for the first time.

Special mention to MVP Mia Leech-Morrison who made the most tags in the game and stopped St Pats from scoring another 4 tries.

MVP:  Mia Leech-Morrison

MR MCGRATH

10-12 BOYS OZ TAG

Win 9-4

vs St Benedicts

The boys started well in round 1, coming out as winners at a wet Kirkham oval. Riley, Noah, Luke and Marley were strong in attack, punching through holes in every set. Some sloppy errors allowed SBCC to find the try lime a few times late in the second half. A special shout out to Tony and Coby for scoring on debut for JT.

MVP: Luke Denniss and Noah McKenzie.

MRS BULGER

7-9 GIRLS HOCKEY

BYE

MR GERIBO

7-9 GIRLS IND CRICKET

Loss 65-40 vs Broughton

The girls put in a good effort in their first game of the season and showed glimpses of quality throughout the game. Unfortunately, some inconsistent and inaccurate bowling let us down but we look forward to improving as the season progresses.

MVP: Elyse Stonebridge

MR CHAPMAN

7-9 BOYS SOFTBALL

5-5 Draw

vs Macarthur Anglican

A great start by the JT boys softball team. We fielded first and MAS started strong getting 5 consecutive batters home. JT rallied together and managed 3 home in the first innings. Then some excellent fielding restricted MAS to zero runs. We got so close to snatching a victory, however, we couldn’t quite finish it off and we ultimately drew the game.

MVP: Nicholas Augustine

Upon recognising our student achievements across all sporting competitions and pathways, I would like to recognise the amazing efforts made by the College staff in coaching, training and mentoring our student athletes throughout the year. The College is very lucky to have a staff who have such a diverse range of experience and are keen to develop the students skills on and off the sporting fields.

Jack Crawford Games

Staff and students wrapped up a successful 2022 by holding the Annual Jack Crawford Games on Friday 16th December. After a successful College liturgy and farewell to Mr Marshall, the students moved to the 2022 JT Gift, where four students from each house competed in a handicapped 100m event based on their athletics carnival times.

Congratulations to Naveah Metcalfe and Riley Oitmann on taking out their respective events and earning valuable house points to start the carnival.

The College Facebook and Instagram posts clearly demonstrated the enjoyment the kids were having throughout the various activities as they earned house points for their team achievements.

Congratulations to our Jack Crawford winners for 2022 - MURRAY HOUSE

It was a massive effort by all the Year 12 students to prepare for their House Entrances. After weeks of rehearsal time, the senior students entertained the College for the last hour of the day with their dancing and themed stories, while their fancy dress costumes were certainly eye-catching.

Year 12 were certainly motivated in their devotion to their House Cheers and creating a fantastic sense of College pride which was conveyed to the JT community. I look forward to the participation and involvement of the Year 12 cohort for the remainder of the College carnivals and sporting events.
